    A couple years back, Tim McCarver during some game, is talking about the leadoff walk vs. the leadoff HR. Says he had stats inc. look into it for him as far as what innings score more runs, those with a leadoff walk vs. those with a leadoff HR. He says "and it surprised me, apparently teams score more in innings with leadoff HRs than leadoff walks." It surprised him that 1 run scored, nobody on leads to more runs than 0 runs scored 1 man on 1st.

    Yeah, a Gamel or Escobar trade for Vazquez wouldn't be good for the Brewers. It wouldn't happen, but what about a Fielder for Vazquez trade? Both teams get an impact at their weak spot and the Brewers move Gamel into first base. Probably more of an offseason trade if it was going to happen. Braves could also theoretically throw in a good prospect or two to alleviate the age differential. How could you theoretically endorse a Fielder for Vazquez trade but not an Escobar for Vazquez trade? Escobar is hot garbage.

    Ascanio, Hoffpauir, Fuld, and a random prospect might be equal to Murton and Patterson. Donaldson and Gallagher were the important parts of the trade. So, no.

    Baker can actually hit. Blanco can actually field. I have no problem with having another guy on our bench who can actually hit. We need to go to 11 pitchers, the issue is if they're still continuing this Patton idiocy, we'll be effectively workign with 10 pitchers. Dumping Patton one way or another won't hurt the pen at all cause Patton is the 12th guy and he's never used.

    Getting called up doesn't use an option year, only being sent down. At the beginning of the year everyone who is on the 40 man roster that starts the year in the minors has used an option year by being "sent down" at the end of spring training" However, in a case where a guy is added to the 40 man roster in season, he doesn't burn an option until he is sent down. Say Bobby Scales (added to 40 man during the season simultaneously with his call up) never got sent down this year, he'd still have 3 full option years remaining.

    Lee's year really hasn't been that special. His awful April is still weighing down his season #s.

    That's not how it works. I believe it is. I'm fairly sure that's how Marmol got in last year. That was player vote, not fan vote.

    I don't think the knee injury had anything to do with his falling off a cliff. His 2004 was an above average season. He just lost it, and I don't think we had the coaching at the big league level that was capable of bringing him out of it. From there he got hackier and hackier and nobody seemed to care to try and fix him or it was too late at that point to teach the old dog new tricks.
