  1. Because Kyle, you're expecting some absurd regression from Marmol based on the fact that he sucked as a starter 3 years ago. You think Angel Guzman's major league career should be over because he's been injury prone. It's ridiculous.
  2. I'm not sure you know how regression works. And I'm quite sure you don't understand projections work.
  3. It's like hardcore thought: OMC hasn't posted enough in this thread.
  4. [expletive] I'll cut you. Reported.
  5. You'd think they would send him to Tennessee since he's been playing all year against AA level competition. What's the MLE for a 901 OPS in AA? Maybe he could make September call ups.
  6. But if your whole point is that Baker creates this chaos and we don't know who to send down now, if only he wasn't on the team, then this would be solved. Then release him off the team.
  7. I have the Big 10 favored in 6, ACC in 5. Virginia over PSU Purdue over Wake Maryland over IU Northwestern over NC St. UNC over MSU Va Tech over Iowa Illinois over Clemson UM over BC MN over Miami Duke over Wisky OSU over FSU The only games I'd be shocked to see the Big 10 win are IU or Iowa. Only game I'd be shocked to see ACC win is Wake(though NU should really be embarrassed if they lose to NC St.)
  8. That makes no sense. There's no chaos if you feel the team is better without Baker. You send down Baker.
  9. They have 5 guys playing 2B and 3B and the best of the 5 is Craig Counsell.
  10. 2009 Big Ten/ACC Challenge Presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods Monday, Nov. 30 Penn State at Virginia, 6 p.m. CT, ESPN2 Tuesday, Dec. 1 Wake Forest at Purdue, 6 p.m. CT, ESPN Maryland at Indiana, 6:30 p.m. CT, ESPN2 Northwestern at North Carolina State, 6 p.m. CT, ESPNU Michigan State at North Carolina, 8 p.m. CT, ESPN Virginia Tech at Iowa, 8:30 p.m. CT, ESPN2 Wednesday, Dec. 2 Illinois at Clemson, 6:15 p.m. CT, ESPN Boston College at Michigan, 6:30 p.m. CT, ESPN2 Minnesota at Miami, FL, 6:15 or 7:30 p.m. CT, ESPNU Duke at Wisconsin, 8:15 p.m. CT, ESPN Florida State at Ohio State, 8:30 p.m. CT, ESPN2 THIS IS THE YEAR!!!! or not.
  11. Anybody have Mark Mulder's #s for the St. Paul Saints?
  12. What kind of idiot doesn't know what that trophy looks like?
  13. Combined offensively and defensively, I'm not sure he's better than either half of the platoon going forward, and I'm sure we could do better by focusing on picking up other halves. If we absolutely had to fill 2b in one roster spot, then he wouldn't be an awful option, but we really should be able to make up a platoon of two players, each of whom are better at their half than Lugo would be. We'll look at the platoon offensively this year: Fontenot vs RHP - .236/.322/.369/.691 Baker vs LHP - .154/.154/.308/.462 -- Lugo RHP - .260/.321/.329/.650 LHP - .333/.415/.444/.859 I think it's crazy to not look into this. Dump Baker if you have to. Lugo's #s are over 36 ABs. Over his career, he has worse #s against lefties than he does righties.
  14. You don't want Bobby Scales for virtually nothing, so why Lugo?
  15. It would seem that if hitters are making good contact, they'd be hitting more line drives. He is allowing more flyballs than usual (50.8% this year vs 41% career) though, so that may override the lowered LD%. Just going by those numbers, it seems like control is more of a problem than him getting hit hard. But I could be way off too. I think the general thinking behind the belief that pitchers can't control LD% is that those pitchers who were serving up enough meatballs to give up nothing but line drives had been weeded out. Not to say I definitely buy it, (and even the firmest believers agree to exceptions, such as knuckleballers) but just wanted to clarify the logic.
  16. Man, hindsight's great isn't it? So is foresight
  17. Kevin Hart for Sean Burnett would be awful.
  18. If you want to increase your odds of finding the one who ends up decent the rest of the year you do. Well [expletive], let's just keep any real prospects at AA and save AAA for guys who are DFAd throughout the year along with guys who are entirely out of baseball like Shea Hillenbrand, and guys who should've retired 15 years ago like Mike Stanton. Lugo is old and supposedly can't play defense anymore. This all while being a below average offensive player for his position. He'd be about 6th on our middle infield depth chart.
  19. Or it's Lou's standard nonsense that he talks.
  20. We don't have to be in on every guy that was so shitty his team outright released him.
  21. I like the signing but 250/.378/.389 for a strong platoon split isn't really good.
  22. Hey Pittsburgh Pirates, stop extending Jack Wilson.
  23. Now Yuniesky is hurt. The Royals could have gotten Julio Lugo without giving up quality prospects if they waited a week. Yeah but what if Lugo stays healthy?
  24. This makes a new rule of 3 with Damian Jackson and Lou Merloni.
  25. Cubs fans are racist against Canadians.
