I can't believe how you guys are doing without Coble. Kudos to Carmody. Same. I'm still not sure they have enough for a run to the tourney, but what they did in Chicago, was pretty stunning.

Yeah, I don't buy that. Tenuta, in 5 years, had 15 players drafted into the NFL from his defensive squads at Georgia Tech. Top 30 in total defense every year he was at Tech and was basically the only reason Tech ever finished above .500 under Chan Gailey. Tech's defense was on the field far more than the offense under Gailey. At Notre Dame, he's come into a mess. If Virginia comes to him, he'll be out of ND in a heart beat. I'd imagine virtually all the assistants are out of ND in a heart beat. Maybe those with ND ties will be kept on, but unless ND utterly whiffs on their head coach, the new guy's gonna want all his own people. -

I don't think you'll get a lot of people arguing with you that Wisconsin or Northwestern is better than Va Tech. That'd be goofy. -
Northwestern has played like garbage since about the 15:00 mark. You have timeouts for a reason Carmody.

A lot of people on here seem to forget 2009 ever happened. Harden was the WORST starter on our team and was shut down with shoulder issues at the end of the season. Given the Cubs financial state they couldn't risk paying him 9 or 10 million if he accepted. I'd love the Cubs to have an unlimited budget but they don't and Harden isn't a an asset at that type of salary. As I said, Harden last year would have been worth a 1/8-9M deal.

I agree with VT, but I like the under 118 even more. Iowa is 330 in pace this year and VT is 283. I'm just pissed I missed MD(-4 1/2) like it was earlier today. Didn't want to bet on my work computer. I thought about taking the under without knowing anything about VA Tech's pace, I think I'll take that too. Over/Unders just scare me cause OT or free throw fests give you an auto loss no matter the pace.

Harden started only 25 games in '08 because the Cubs gave him extra rest(like they said they would when they got him) He started 26 games in '09 because he got hurt(while not receiving extra rest) Rich Harden was the 2nd best pitcher in all of baseball after coming to the Cubs in '08(Happy ElCaballo?) and the Cubs are afraid to risk a 1 year/9M investment on him approaching even part of that? 141 innings of above average starting pitching(what he did last year) is probably worth that. If it's not, it's gotta be damn close. You're not going to risk that 1M difference on the chance he at least splits the difference between '08 and '09? The only reason to not offer Harden is a fear of significant DL time, and as most have said, if the Cubs have more knowledge than they've let on about Harden's shoulder, then fine, but if they're pissed that he's not going to complete games, then they're a bunch of idiots.

Iowa did tie Texas for a half too. I'm gonna be really pissed when Iowa loses by at least 4.

The commisioner of baseball is put in place by the owners to protect their interests. Forget about any idealists worried about the purity of the game. It'll be some financial guy looking out for the billionaires.

I'd really like to go all out for one of the '11 studs with the 5th scholarship. I don't know who else besides Miller we'd have a shot at though. The '11 class seems like a better bet for us than '12, and you have to assume at least one scholly opens up for '12 even if you fill up '11(early entry/transfers)
