  1. Nobody thinks the minors are for winning games, stop bringing it up. People listen to Sandberg's old fogey back in my day rants, and then hear him talk about what's important in building a baseball team, and are understandably worried about what he'd do on the major league level. ETA: Oh, and his ridiculous ejections he gets once a week. Real teaching moments there Ryno.
  2. Just put the position on the school's job board like DePaul did.
  3. I hear Dave Bliss is available.
  4. Pritchard and Bawa? That seems to be the latest version, lol. I heard Pritchard mentioned awhile ago but blew it off, cause it makes no damn sense. Bawa I could see if he had an inflated opinion of his abilities, but he was always going to be a project, and if he was expecting to play much as a freshman, somebody was putting some stuff in his head. Is the assumption that these transfers are all due to on the court issues, or is this more of an Iowa situation where the connection isn't there?
  5. And the Marlins could've easily won 0 world serieses those years
  6. If the Cubs have the highest payroll in the division for the entire decade, I'd bet a lot of money on them having a better record than the 00s Would you take 1 World Series in the decade and trade that for more years of suckage? I would. That's a hindsight question. We're talking about looking forward. There's no strategy you can go develop that involves winning 1 WS and sucking for a lot of years.
  7. Because we're more concerned with our 2nd lefty in the bullpen than our 5th starter. I'd probably shoot up Wrigley if I was Marshall
  8. If the Cubs have the highest payroll in the division for the entire decade, I'd bet a lot of money on them having a better record than the 00s
  9. Some things you just don't forget. I'll never forgive him
  10. How so? By showing up to camp fat and posting a 5.73 ERA in 11 innings? By having his mom come back
  11. Who's being rumored?
  12. I'm pretty sure I'd rather hang out with Milton Bradley than Kevin Millar.
  13. I've heard nothing further with regard to IU transfer, has that talk quieted down?
  14. It sure looks like that's the case doesn't it? I think what Tim said is mostly correct. Bonds is an extreme case and he had a lot of issues surrounding him to scare off other teams. However, Bradley has already alienated himself from a big chunk of the league and is known as baseball's biggest a-hole. Bonds kept getting deals because he was putting up awesome numbers and the fans hadn't turned on him. Albert Belle kept getting deals for the same reason until his hip gave out. Bradley is not on the level of Belle and Bonds, even when healthy. How many times is he going to piss someone off until a team trys to dump him and there are no takers? This time around, a team was so desperate to rid themselves of Bradley they took on a garbage pitcher whose contract would be the worst on the team for any team in baseball but the Cubs. What's going to happen when the Mariners tire of him? I didn't ask what MLB GMs thought, I asked what you think.
  15. Again, I said I didn't see the play in question. But, if you think Bruce has been treating McCamey the way he treats the other guys on the team you're nuts. I don't think there's necessarily a problem with that. Different players need different tactics. If he treated Davis the way he treats DMac, Davis would probably quit the team. If he treated DMac the way he treats Davis, he'd barely be a 3rd teamer in the Big Ten
  16. Because in some ways he is much like Rich Rodriguez in that he isn't as good as his hype says he is. He isn't a bad coach, and neither is Grant (who I think will bolt Bama at the first opportunity, mind you) but Bama needed a guy like Grant moreso then Smith. Tubby has been a successful head coach for 20 years. Rodriguez had a successful 6 year run with West VA
  17. Tell me why they didn't sign him then? Because of steroids and the possibility of jail time? That's partially correct. Whether or not you or I believe in the effect of "chemistry" effecting a team, Bonds has been known as a complete [expletive] his entire career, and it certainly didn't aid him in getting teams to line up to sign him. And that was my point. And my point is (still) that teams are idiots if that is why they didn't sign him. I have a hard time believing that all 30 teams are run by drooling morons So you think all 30 teams passed on a player who put up a .480 OBP because they were scared he might go to jail during the season (which he still hasn't done)? Do you think Bonds's surly demeanor outweighed the fact that he would've been the best hitter on most of the teams in baseball?
  18. Neither Bama or The Barn are that attractive of a place for basketball coaches, especially high profile like Tubby. So I don't know why he would say he has no interests in Bama (thank the freakin' god he turn Bama down) but would be interesting in going to Cow College? I think Tubby to Auburn is more wishful thinking then anything. Why thank God he turned down Bama? Anthony Grant is a nice coach, but he's not Tubby
  19. Lord knows I've done my share of firing off on what I deemed excessive Weber bashing, but you're really getting oversensitive Tim.

  21. If teams didn't sign a guy coming off a 480 OBP because he wasn't cuddly enough then I've given MLB GMs far too much credit.
  22. Is it even possible to have a "bunch" of family in Williston?
  23. Not really. I'd guess Stan Simpson, a redshirt freshman who never plays, and doesn't look to crack the rotation any time soon, but he wouldn't be sitting in the middle of the bench. You have any sort of description of him? He was a black guy wearing just the uniform (no warms up or anything like that, so I assume he plays ). It was about 20 seconds of highlights and was really the only thing that stood out to me, other than the fact that it was highlights of the NIT and I'll watch anything on an airplane. keller, maybe Eh, Keller's pouting only seemed to last through the Wisconsin game. He was up jumping around during the OSU and Stony Brook games
