I think it only gets bad for Illinois if you see Virginia Tech, Rhode Island, Mississippi State, Utah State or Seton Hall in the bracket. By my count there's 2 spots left for those teams + Illinois, Cal, Mississippi, and Mississippi St.

This is what I don't get about bracketology, on selection sunday, he always makes changes at the last second. I think he gets tipped off. I kinda do too, which makes me a little hopeful about the switch. Of course, our committee has beaten him the last 2 years so who knows.

You pretty much agree with how things shook out on our bracket/S-curve? My only real issue, which isn't much, is that I'd have New Mexico St probably 4 or so spots lower. I think the last 4 in nailed it.

Cal has beaten 1 tournament team all year(Washington), and they probably wouldn't be in if they didn't win the tourney. AND they went 1-2 against them. They also lost to Oregon St, Arizona, USC, and UCLA. UTEP hasn't beaten a single at-large tourney team all year. They've lost to Houston twice, New Mexico St, and Texas Tech. Mississippi St has beaten Old Dominion and Vanderbilt. They have lost to Rider, Western Kentucky, Arkansas, Alabama, and Auburn.

Utah St's 2nd best win is WICHITA STATE In addition to matching us with a loss to Utah, they have losses to Northeasetern, Long Beach St, New Mexico St (Twice) and Louisiana Tech.
