I must has missed something but, why the F**K!!!!!!!! does Lou keep playing Hill? Team having trouble scoring runs -check. You have a catcher who can actually hit - check. Play the one who can't hit - ahhhh, check? Unless I missed it, I wish some reporter would get the balls to ask Lou this question. Haha question Lou? Nobody in the Chicago media has the balls to question Lou on anything they are all terrified of him. The media that cover the Cubs give Lou a free pass. No, they'll ask him but he'll get all flustered and throw up his hands and say, "What can I do!?" Then they'll back off. LOOK SIR!! I'm trying to win games here!!! And and and and and and and what you want is what? You want Soto out there everyday? When you have your team, you can play one catcher every inning of every game, but I'm not gonna do that! -

Unless you're talking iconic franchises like the Yankees or Cowboys (for the 4 people abroad that care about US Football), people care about individuals, not teams.

What they said was that you can make a killing without being Michael Jordan in New York. In Chicago you have to be Michael Jordan in order to have a chance to match New York's earning potential. I'd say you have to be better than Michael Jordan in order to match that earning potential. Jordan's already been done, you have to one-up him. ETA: I think it's a flawed argument, he'll make his money whether he's in NYC, Chicago, Cleveland, Jersey, or Miami. Arguing that point from the side of being an icon makes a lot more sense.

That wasn't the worst contract handed out today. Darko Milicic got 4y/20M from Minnesota. :scratch: And yet, Darko getting 4 years wasn't the worst deal of the day, the belongs to Rudy Gay. Drew Gooden will play like 2 years of the contract he signed

Jerry Dipoto never pitched for the Cubs. You're probably thinking of Frank Dipino. Hinch sounded like a smart guy that understood what the role of a manger should be. Think Manny Acta. Josh Byrnes, not a real smart guy.

I can fathom a veteran taking less money to play with superstars, I have a hard time seeing a guy in the prime of his career at the top of his game taking less than what he's worth.

Also, not that I care much about basketball, but what does moving to Brooklyn have to do with anything? Brooklyn ain't Manhattan and it never will be. There are trendy areas but it's mostly a crime riddled slum like the Bronx. What does where the stadium is located have to do with where the player lives?

Thus far the best deal of the day is paying John Salmons 8M/year This assures that Milwaukee will be floating around somewhere in the bottom 4 teams to make the playoffs in the East for awhile now. Congrats to them. Deals like these give me hope that someone will take Deng. The other 3 sports have their mind-boggling contracts, but I don't think either holds a candle to the NBA in terms of fall-down hilarity. Darko for 20M? [expletive] it, let's do it! I cannot wait to see what kind of deal Telfair gets

I don't think Pierce would accept any kind of MLE deal, and I don't see (hope not) the Bulls giving him max money. Allen possibly could be had at the MLE, but not Pierce. I'd be a little surprised to see Allen at the MLE at this point. Pierce will probably wind up back with Boston for way too much money for too money years, effectively killing their chances at reloading around Rondo and Perkins.
