  1. I didn't know Division II players were even eligible. They're not. Texas A&M is in the Big 12, ranked in the top 20, and is playing LSU in the Cotton Bowl. Best of luck to them in that tournament.
  2. is this serious? i hope not. that was one game. wow. I will take the liberty of assuring you, on Treeman's behalf, that this was sarcasm. thank you, i've seen more bizzare posts here. Especially in the trans thread. :? People (not necessarily in this case) decide that they dont like the idea of adding a player and try to convince everyone else that they're opinion is correct. As though that opinion matters... You think that is bizarre, you should see the posts in the trannies thread. Let me take the liberty of assuring you that all of tree's posts in that thread are serious.
  3. Considering a lot of contracts are coming off the books after this upcoming season, this isn't a huge deal. It's $5 million more to spend this season, and $5 million less to spend next season... but Aramis, Kosuke, Silva, Samardzija, and Grabow will be off the books in 2012 with big money going to only Zambrano, Soriano, and Dempster. Sacrificing $5 million next season shouldn't be much of a burden That's $5 million less to spend in a season in which we probably hope to be more competitive *and* have more holes to fill. Not if we defer 5M from next year's contracts to 2013.
  4. I'm assuming the catcher thing is referring to why Wells struggled initially as a pitcher. I'm not seeing the Garza blah though.
  5. This. I'm not advocating a trade for him if it takes all our best prospects and players. I'm not too concerned with the anxiety. It would be a slight concern, but he appears to have it in check. His asking price is way too much for the Cubs to partake in so I wouldn't dream of trying to pull the trigger on a deal. We've got some great young arms coming up through the system that I'd be much more inclined to keep instead of deal away for Greinke. No, This. I just can't imagine him fitting into a market much bigger than KC.
  6. Webb would get a hell of a lot more than 12M as a healthy pitcher on the open market. But he hasn't pitched in 2 years, 7M sounds really high.
  7. that's what annoys me about people who want to write off next year and "save" all this money to spend big in 2012 or 2013. first of all, you're going to lose money if you suck next year. second of all, if you suck it's going to make you less attractive to FA's. and finally, who the hell do you think they're going to spend all this "saved" money on? Pujols 7/200
  8. I have been saying this for weeks. Dan Mullen will be the guy at Florida if this happens, and I think Miami has killed themselves by not moving quickly enough. Mullen to Florida, RichRod to Miam, Malzahn to Mississippi State. Book it. http://twitter.com/#!/GatorUpdates No you've been saying for weeks that Mullen was going to Miami.
  9. They were expecting Tony Dungy
  10. The problem is they'd insist on betting on batting average or ground balls to the right side with 1 out and a man on 2nd.
  11. Not if payroll keeps going up. Payroll only goes up because we keep spending more on an annual basis on players, not because of backloading contracts. The only issue comes up if a player doesn't want balloon payments.
  12. you wanna go? Ask him when Gene Chizik is gonna complete his turnaround job at ISU. Probably after they move to the Missouri Valley Conference.
  13. you wanna go? Ask him when Gene Chizik is gonna complete his turnaround job at ISU.
  14. So you're saying he won't murder Pappas. Pass.
  15. I didn't know Division II players were even eligible.
  16. I look for UM to become just like Notre Dame. Pretty soon we'll be just as bitchy. Was this post made in 1906?
  17. I thought he was banged up one of those years. 604 PAs one year, 543 the next. None of the minor league time on rehab stints.
  18. Pena hasn't spent any significant time hurt. He spent half of '05 in the minors cause the Tigers demoted him, then signed a couply minor league contracts with the Yankees and Boston in '06.
  19. I don't get why we do this... it's an entire season and months are just arbitrary intervals of time. We need to bench Pena for those 2 months! And Fukudome every day but opening day!!
  20. Dumb. It's not dumb. I could see a great marketing opportunity with Galaragga and Milt Pappas. Maybe on one of Galaragga's off nights him and Pappas can sit in the stands behind home plate and heckle the home plate ump all night. Hopefully Gallaraga pitches one wild it shoots through the screen and hits Pappas in the face.
  21. I'm shocked our front office would pay that much for a guy with that batting average
  22. Carr coached that game.
