I dunno I guess I'd just prefer a defensive oriented guard at the 2 with the starting lineup we have. We already have supposedly below average defenders in Rose and Boozer in the lineup, and as awesome as Noah is he struggles in certain situations against bigger matchups. Adding a 3rd bad defender could really cause the starting lineup to struggle. I mean I guess he would be ok. He only shot 33% from 3 last year though, and 6 attempts per game. Is that even beneficial? I am asking seriously because I didn't think 33% was all that good. We're 4th in defensive rating and 19th in offensive rating. Even with Korver, Rose, and Deng all hitting 3s, we could use some more shooting. I don't think giving Bogans and Brewer's minutes to JR Smith is going to cause our D to plummet but the shooting immediately improves. Bogans is a decent defender (not great by any means), has terrible foot speed so he doesn't help in an up tempo game, and can't do anything offensively. So maybe you get him to guard pretty well but the other guy has to expend absolutely no energy at all in defending him. You're 19th in offensive rating with little impact from your 2nd best offensive player. I think Brewer alone is worth more to the Bulls than Smith. (Not like adding Bogans to the trade does anything one way or another, the guy's damn near worthless.) Brewer was recovering from injury to begin the year, and has improved with health. Do you really want Rose chasing one of the opponent's better guards all around the court and then coming back and running the show on offense? Kid's gonna be dead by the playoffs.
