I'm kinda of the mind that the refs probably should have swallowed the whistle on the second one. I think you have to understand the consequences of your actions, and essentially giving the game to Butler because Howard was a little obstructed in an attempt to wheel and throw the ball 85 feet doesn't seem very just to me. I think saying a little obstructed is underselling it. His left arm was being held down as he grabbed for the ball to heave. It's not like Brown had a great look from 45 feet when Mack fouled him.
