  1. Illinois has 1 opening for 2011, 1 for 2012. Indiana has 23 scholarships committed for 2012 so they can only take 2 more kids.
  2. screw statements like this we all saw it coming, but it doesn't make it any less infuriating. Pretty much. Anyone expecting that is an [expletive]. Just because I expected that to happen doesn't mean that I wanted it to, but I've been watching this team long enough to have much confidence in any other result. So you're usually wrong then.
  3. I really hope Jeff Baker doesn't get trotted out there vs. righties all year due to one hot month
  4. What the hell is on Burke's finger?
  5. He was cured of his zombieness
  6. HE'S NOT WEARING WHITE
  7. Ryan Franklin is the rest of the NL Central MVP
  8. Going from the OKC crowd to the Miami crowd really makes them look bad.
  9. He's just lucky he didn't have to run into a stud PG like Darren Collison
  10. I think Coleman pulls a good game out of his ass. 6 IP, 2 R.
  11. Let's not pretend that Hendry couldn't have spent on the pen if he wanted to. He didn't need to trade for Garza, he could have dumpster dove for a 1B. It's certainly what I was expecting him to do.
  12. Truffle won't be happy until everyone's as miserable as him.
  13. Well that's embarrasing do you think that would have prevented an invitation if this happened a year ago? I know ND isn't AAU, but they seem to get a free pass on that because of superior academic rep (and the fact they are obviously a dream addition to any conference.) It would probably take some extra cajoling of the university presidents, but I imagine money would have won out in the end.
  14. That's actually too bad. I mean it's good for our chances of winning, but I still like Kirk. Out of curiosity, who would he have been responsible for guarding if he had played? Rose.
  15. a 500 OBP
  16. Well that's embarrasing
  17. http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/news/local/cbsports-cubs-to-offer-discounted-beer-hot-dogs-in-bleachers-20110429,0,104784.story?track=rss This seems like just a terrible idea. I would imagine bleachers is the last place they need to be worried about attendance during the summer months.
  18. Why would anyone want to watch Chris Berman and Jon Gruden analyze anything? I would have rather watched last night's Cubs game
  19. You saw these decisions coming before the season? That leading the league in quality starts factoid is pointless. They still sucked. They were still one of the worst pitching staffs in the league. And what does "see it coming" have to do with anything? This wasn't a well constructed team. They were very unlikely to be good. Over the course of 6 months countless unpredictable things are going to take place. But the fact is the Cubs were poorly constructed and setbacks of some sort were inevitable. You didn't have to predict the exact things to go wrong to predict the 2011 Cubs would struggle. Every starter who made more than 3 starts had above average ERA+s. The pitching staff "sucked" last year due to a historically bad bullpen that was unlikely to repeat its numbers even if they brought back the same exact pen. And by "sucked," I mean a 103 ERA+ ***Yes, I understand ERA+ is flawed, but it's quick and dirty***
