  1. Would the MLBPA allow him to waive that guaranteed money? I'm not certain on that, but didn't Sosa do that when he went to Baltimore? I believe you can't reduce the value of your current contract in total dollars, i.e. simply take a paycut, but if you agree to not have an option vest it's viewed differently. (It won't happen, but one could argue he feels he can make more money as a free agent than he would from the option) I don't know, was Sosa's a player option? The Cubs still paid his salary for the first year. With Aramis it is a team option that kicks in automatically if traded. And if he voids it he doesn't get the buyout. Almost positive Sosa's was the same deal. A team option (vesting on trdae)that he sulked about us not picking up in advance either in '03 or '04 ST. ETA:
  2. That's about what I weighed as a cub scout too Fatty fat fat

  4. If you want to be cynical about it, he's floating this out there now so teams don't bother coming to him in late July asking him to waive his guaranteed year next year in return for going to a contender.
  5. There has to be something, but I still want the Cubs to take the chance. Because there's no compensation for unsigned picks after the 3rd round, I think most teams feel safer going with relatively more signable guys in the early rounds after the 3rd. The logic being that you'd hate to blow, say, a 4th rounder on a tough sign when there's still good talent out there you're more likely to sign. You think they drop outside the top 10 rounds now? It's really just a game of chicken among the teams that are willing to spend at this point isn't it?
  6. How long has there been compensation for unsigned picks in rounds 2 and 3?
  7. Then I stand by my BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  8. St. Rita High School. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I vaguely remember you hating him in the 09 draft thread. '08 I believe. If it's the same guy, Ping mentioned what a raging db his dad was.
  9. Tayler Scott, rhp, Notre Dame Prep HS, Scottsdale, Ariz. R/R 6'1" 175 19 5 3 2.87 11 0 46 46 26 58 I agree...skinny and could fill out and add velo Does Hendry realize he's not coming from South Bend?
  10. Schiano's gonna take some heat if he runs any onside kick plays.
  11. Nobody picked him in the previous 33 selections. That doesn't sound like stealing at all. Sounds fairly legal.
  12. Sports are better with villains.
  13. The Cubs have had fantastic success with Carlos Zambrano. They have yet to turn him into a white guy.
  14. What makeshift overspending has been done since Ricketts has been around?
  15. I'm sure he's done that too
  16. Why does each team only get to start with 4 players?
  17. This I wish their was some innocent party that could sue Bush, however I am not sure who that would really be. Why not this guy? http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/ncf/news/story?id=6630150 P.S. you spelled "there" terribly wrong Looks like a non-starter to me. USC could've kept McNair in spite of the show-cause. Sure, it's a detriment, but show-cause doesn't prohibit you from working, it just requires the university to prove they have a reason to hire you/keep you on. If McNair's hands were clean and USC believed it, they could've shown it to the NCAA. Probably not worth the headaches to USC for a guy I'm sure is replaceable, but still.
  18. Should be easy for @thekapman to run a find and replace for Zambrano-Baez.
  19. Good, he's a terrible person.
  20. Basically a meteor is heading for Earth as we speak and we have at most 36 hours left to live. Now this guy was far from a sane person, but it was depressing to hear nonetheless.
  21. If you mean supplemental picks then no. We don't offer arbitration anymore. :( We didn't have anyone to collect picks from.
