    I am neutral about the Cardinals... but I actually do hate certain members of their team. And lately I'm hating TLR more and more (never liked him but he's been extra douchey lately). That's where I am. I have a lot of friends and family who are Cardinals fans, and if the Cubs don't win it, I don't mind seeing them happy.     To be fair to those that feel that way, and I'm not of that mindset, but potentially, the team would be in better shape to take advantage of the earlier years of that contract. Guessing he's not going to become younger than Fielder over the next 2 years. Nope. But my mind is dead set on Pujols at this point. Forgive me. EDIT - And I'm still not sure how I feel about how Fielder is going to age. If you assume the same contracts for Votto and Fielder(I wouldn't, I'd expect Votto to get a better deal if he hits FA due to being the only one out there.), then Fielder would have to decline more than 2 years (age-wise) than Votto will. I see no reason why to believe that.

    While you should never actively look for a player who will be just ok because of where he plays, having a collection of guys who can shake out to be league average at 2B for league minimum is a huge asset. You don't pay real money for guys like the Cubs 2B collection, but you take advantage of the time they cost you no money, then spin them off when they hit arb.

    The PCL's average park factor is roughly a bajillion.

    I don't think he fits either of the last 2 qualities. Up the middle is the one spot we don't need to bring in new players for. Between Soto, Castro, Jackson/Szczur, and Barney/DeWitt/DJL/Flaherty/Gonzalez, the Cubs should be fine.

    I think Zambrano is a Cub on opening day because Theo is an intelligent person. If he could save ~8M by dumping him, he would because Z's unlikely to be worth more than the remainder of his deal, and wouldn't be worth it at that point, but it's pretty damn unlikely he can.
