That's annoying for sure but I was on record even before all of this that I was fine with the NIT as long as horsefeathering Syracuse didn't get yet another horsefeathering gift bid. This wouldn't have helped Notre Dame at all this year but would it be ridiculous to make a team at least go .500 in conference play if they want to make the tournament? Not even over .500, just go 9-9. I don't think that's too much to ask for. That would leave out 5 teams who made it. Bama, ASU, Syracuse, Oklahoma, and Texas. Going by NIT seeding, they'd be replaced by St. Mary's, USC, Utah, Louisville, and Marquette. Requiring over .500 would also eliminate A&M, TCU, Butler, and FSU(along with Marquette and Louisville as replacements) That would open slots for(in addition to SMC, USC, and Utah) MTSU, Oregon, Stanford, Western Kentucky, Boise State, and one of Nebraska or Washington. They really hated Nebraska.
