  1. Or when 51 of us agreed on anything. I think Derwood lost his greatest poster matchup 51-1.
  2. They did lower ticket prices, but they are still top 5. Honestly, I think they are trying to pay down a lot of debt they incurred when they remodeled Wrigley. At the same time, they have massive tax breaks due to its "historic" status. But I think they've invested heavily in outside ventures that are tangentially related to the Cubs and using the Cubs to leverage those things. We don't know due to the less than transparent way MLB works. Not accusing you of being pro-Ricketts or anything but like...this is the stuff that bothers me. You want to know an easy way to pay down debts? Just tap into that $26b your family got from the sale of TD Ameritrade. It's these dumb accounting games all these billionaires play to justify a growing profit margin or whatever other dumb terms they use that most of the public will eat up. If you spend money on the team in line with all the other major markets and suddenly you aren't making as much money as you'd like, go sell the horsefeathering team and cash in on the $1b+ increase in value since you bought them. Closer to 4 billion.
  3. Much like every other promise of revenue going right back into the team, they lied.
  4. If this post doesn't clear it up, TT is the least miserable jerk on here
  5. Everyone applaud for Tim now so we can start booing the new guy like the NBA did
  6. I’ll tell you who’s worth beating
  7. The thing is refs aren't conference exclusive, so this theory never really made sense to me. The refs for NW/PU were Roger Ayers (8 Big Ten games out of 40 in-conference games ) Ron Groover (2 Big Ten games out of 44 in-conference games), and Clarence Armstrong (4 Big Ten games out of 41 in-conference games. The 3 of them primarily ref ACC games, and there are guys that work majority of Big Ten games, but the crews just aren't consistent enough for there to be a set style IMO. There's also the fact that the Big Ten hasn't really underperformed, just more of a statistical anomaly of not winning the title. Big Ten has 2nd most final four appearances since MSU's title (14 or 16 depending on how Maryland's ACC appearances are counted, ACC has most with 16 or 19 depending on same idea of counting current teams or teams conference at the time.) They also have the most runner up finishes with 7 (no other conference with more than 3)
  8. Purdue has looked very vulnerable to some very light pressure
  9. I hit something like 105:1 (was 80 or 85 then boosted 25%) on the first TD scorers in each half last year so I’ll be pissing money away on that bet for the rest of my life
  10. Maybe they don't win in 95 like how they didn't win in 95 with Jordan. LBJ is an absolute freak in terms of production for the number of miles he has on him. Kobe was broken down at 35. Jordan saw a clear drop-off in his final Bulls season, and at the age Lebron is now was a volume scorer with the Wizards. An
  11. I get what you are saying from a longevity perspective, but Manning/Brady probably isn't the best comparison. Jordan still has more titles than LeBron....when I think of Manning I think of a guy who was probably the best QB in the league in many of the years that he played but never the unquestioned best QB (mostly bc of Brady). And then the next thing I think about is how the only Super Bowls he ever won were against Rex Grossman and in the final year of his career with a defense that almost literally carried him and what was left of his noodle arm to a championship. The thing that makes the GOAT comparison difficult is 1) they played in much different eras and 2) they were different types of players, similar in some ways but you can't do an apples-to-apples statistical comparison. I absolutely think that LeBron's longevity should be a factor in his GOAT case, but not THE factor. Jordan had a long sustained peak that lasted as long as many careers, however Jordan didn't have the option of joining the NBA out of high school, or after his freshman year, or after his sophomore year. Not to say Jordan was ready for the NBA out of high school like LeBron was, but those are 3 years LeBron had to accumulate stats that Jordan didn't have as an option. Also he literally retired to try to play another sport in the middle of his prime which is still bizarre to me. Give him those 4.5 seasons and he still has more points than LeBron and probably 4 more championships than him instead of 2 more. Daryl Dawkins went pro out of high school 9 years before Jordan was drafted. Don't blame Lebron for putting more miles on his body at a younger age. Why are we giving Jordan 4 more championships exactly?
  12. We should probably rely on a non-Bulls fan to decide.
  13. It helps when you hook and hold and judo toss a guy and get the foul called on them.
  14. Mayer was just fantastic all game, both sides of the ball and managing to play for much of the game in foul trouble. Hope Harris isn't out long-term. Bench is short as it is.
  15. 15 of the first 19. His last 2 points were the last 2 points of the game on free throws when MSU was fouling intentionally.
  16. Pretty certain the outcome of the Bears/Lions game is meaningless to the Packers’ playoff odds. Looks like there's a very slight impact, per 538s prediction model. But perhaps more indirectly, a Lions loss basically tanks their chances leaving almost nothing or nothing to play for the following week against GB. Do you have a link to that I love playing around with that stuff
  17. They also still have their #7 seed inside straight with a win over HOU/Loss to TEN paired with Week 17 NE beats MIA SEA beats NYJ Week 18 BUF beats NE NYJ beats MIA PIT loses at least one of @ BAL or vs CLE
  18. I know it's an oddball scenario so there's not much history to go off of(other than the Eagles game UMfan mentioned), but I can't imagine a team resting starters in week 17 when they need to win in week 18. Pedersen has said he wouldn't.
  19. Oh Jesus, I was on board.
  20. NGL, I have a decent sized bet that the Texans would have the worst record in the league at +350
  21. I deleted my initial post becasue it was dumb, but anyway, while the game may be meaningless for Jacksonville on paper, I don't see how it would affect their effort at all, they're not gonna mail in week 17, knowing they need to win week 18.
  22. Who, the Cubs? The Chicago Cubs?
  23. They did win 101 games last year.
