  1. Because that's impossible to answer without defining the population of comparable players, which could range anywhere from "there's nobody just like him, he's a special unique snowflake" to "every professional baseball player in history." Players with > 2.0 WAR by the age of 21. ETA: I'm not even tailoring it specifically to Castro who put up 2 fWAR at the age of 20 in 3/4 of a season
  2. What's the ratio of good to bad history? He has two strengths, getting base hits and not looking lost some of the times on defense at a premium position. The problem is that for all the "HE'S GOING TO IMPROVE, HE'S 23" his walk rate has never fluctuated since he debuted and his batting average has never gotten better since he debuted. He basically has "gotten better" at two things since he debuted -- he hit for more power twice, before falling off completely this year, and he's only been a passable defender once. Well that ignored my question entirely
  3. What's the ratio of good to bad history?
  4. Has a team ever gone 0-82?
  5. It's actually pretty huge, it's just that most of them aren't good enough to make it to the majors before that happens so we don't notice when they just stop getting better, a la Felix Pie. Felix Pie was in the majors this season, but your point stands. That is no guarantee players improve just because they are 22. I don't see many signs Castro is going to get better. Ok, the list of people who have had good seasons and then stopped progressing at 22 is tiny?
  6. If you think it would be cool to have Danny Tambarelli as a facebook friend, you'd be wrong. I don't care about your shitty band update Danny.
  7. I bet they barely enjoy their world series next year knowing they did it the wrong way.
  8. Mitch Williams knows a thing or 2 about a home run ending a rally
  9. Wow, Seton Hall and Providence??
  10. Has anyone seen that recently. I can't imagine it holds up nearly as well as it did when I watched it last 20 years ago
  11. As if it's better to somehow acquire him accidentally? Yes, procedural incompetence > stupidity
  12. Can't describe it, the movies are UHF and The Gods Must Be Crazy.... So we're Stanley Spadowski and the Yankees are the killer bottle from space.
  13. I've never seen the movie, can you guys dumb it down for me?
  14. Yankees with a dire need and Dodgers with [expletive] you money=No chance for anyone else. Ya know...we kind of have a dire need too, but...you know.
  15. Yes, what you likely seen from Castro his 1st 3 years is his likely ceiling. This is [expletive] ridiculous. What is he going to develop 20+ Hrs, Obp above .370. Hes only 22 but he has well over 2000 PAs. He won't be as bad as last year but to expect above what he did before last year is foolish at this point. Hope next year, I expect more. If he repeats 13', his value will be close to zero. It's foolish to consider anyone to be topped out at the age of 22.
  16. Hahaha, we won't be dropping that on a bid

  18. So, if Castro maxes his talent, he's Starlin Castro 2010-2012? Interesting. Edgar Renteria had five seasons better than Castro 2010-2012, and including one where he doubled Castro's best fWAR. How many seasons did he have that were worse? Did UK say if Castro maxes out his talent he'll put up nothing but Renteria's best years?
  19. Kolten Wong is 6.5 months younger than Castro, can't play SS and hit like Josh Vitters at the major league level this season.

  21. Then our front office is stupid. That's a bit harsh I think. A career .322 OBP is not impressive. But since he plays a deluxe position, I think they feel they can still move him for something compelling. No, it's not. Being desperate to move a guy because of one bad season and because you're focusing on the flaws of his game rather than the strengths is the move of a stupid front office.
  22. Since we have no money again and aren't going to try again, why would you trade Castro at his absolute nadir rather than let him go out and hit for an empty average and then trade him for the 2015 run?
