  1. in 2003, i made myself a FREE HEE SEOP tshirt to protest his limited at bats. i had to stop wearing it because people on the street kept stopping me to ask about who this hee seop guy was and who was oppressing him, only to be deeply disappointed when i sheepishly replied that he was a baseball player that i wanted to see play more. this is really awesome I would still wear that shirt today tbh Yeah but you'd have to come up with a story about it, like Hee Seop is a political prisoner who's been held in a detention camp in North Korea for the last 8 years. This could be the next KONY
  2. Don't ruin this for me.
  3. For not hustling on a ground ball back to the pitcher he was thrown out by 60 feet on.
  4. Holy [expletive], he was batting 7th? Matt Williams is kinda dumb.
  5. While I'm enjoying this brief respite of bad news for Illinois athletics, what's with the 2 no-names Indiana got commits from this month? They couldn't find a JUCO guy better than this?
  6. It was a pretty ridiculous rotation. Why? A frontline SP thru FA and Wood is a solid start. Keeping Shark would be a plus. Coming up with a 4 and a 5 out of what I mentioned, one of which involves us trading top 100 types FOR a SP doesn't seem that unfathomable to me. The problem is there's been no indication we'll be extending Shark, so now you need the return on him to fill into a top 3 spot in the rotation immediately, AND you need to hit on one of the few frontline FA SPs. It's not difficult to be skeptical.
  7. On the plus side, in a few years when they fire Anderson they'll try to hire Tom Thibodeau and then hire me when they miss out on him. You mean when Anderson leaves for Missouri State's women's team
  8. You skipped one of Pinieyro or Black. And Arrieta really sucks.
  9. at 27 already I do not believe that is the case. That'd be correct.
  10. So help me out, he'd be a part of this coming IFA pool meaning we'd have no chance at him considering our limitations right?
  11. I mean it's hard to knock a kid for going to the #1 team and possibly playing on a national champion next year but good luck getting consistent minutes. Decent chance he gets recruited over in '15 and/or '16 also. I can't see him finishing his career in Lexington. I think you may be underestimating how good Ullis is. God, you are SOOOO NOT IlliniNutt. I know he's really good, I wish Groce would have offered right away. Hope he doesn't make the same mistake with Pipkins, but that said he's so small and cal kills it in recruiting. Why would Groce offering right away change anything? Once Kentucky became interested he was gone.
  12. Man, I really hope the 26 year old reliever with 12 innings pitched wasn't #2 either.
  13. Are we even going to want Edwards to be pitching late in the season after throwing 100 innings this season with a career high of ~110? And yes, those who were negative last year have certainly been shown how foolish they were thus far.
  14. I nail what side that red light is on every time.
  15. Baghdad Tranny, SEC shill, strikes again
  16. I barely even checked out during 2011. How badly did Garza fail that they went from playoffs to 71 wins?
  17. Stupid Garza probably doesn't even know about the Brewers farm system ranking
  18. baker also made like twice as much as veras
  19. Illinois and Indiana will appreciate the southern road trips I'm sure
  20. The money spent on the Dominican facility and the overage on IFAs is a piddling pile of piss
  21. This guy did. They clearly had a lower than expected renewal rate this year given the stories people have told on here about the team begging them to take them.
  22. Don't get your hopes up. One would think they'd try to improve this year. I was optimistic that they'd be better this but I'm not any longer. I know this isn't right considering the Cubs have been popular forever and haven't won in a century, but I start to wonder if another horrid year, coupled with another horrid two months next year, would start to have a huge impact on the fan base coming out to games. Like, a very noticeable one. Not just the expected decrease. I don't even know what I'm talking about. I hate the Brewers. I hate that the Cubs are so bad. I hate that the Brewers get to beat up on the Cubs 19 times a year and we just have to sit back and watch it happen. What do you consider a "noticeable" decline? This year we will finish off our dropoff of 1 million plus fans since 08(and possiby 1M since 09) A decline in which it looks like a slightly better version than a Pirates home crowd from a few years ago. The pirates bottomed out at 1.5M and change. Can't see paid attendance ever getting to that level, too many season ticket suckers. As far as fans through turnstiles, we might already be there
  23. Actually, considering we have owners who can't even run the team like a small market one, I've enjoyed their work and the fact that they have been creative in trying to restock the system through signing guys and flipping them. Which they have done a strong job with. Not every GM would have even thought of the concept, much less be able to pull it off multiple times. Obviously, the trade to get Travis Wood was nice. The pickup of Luis Valbuena for nothing was impressive. The signings of role players such as David DeJesus and Dioner Navarro were cool. The list is never going to be standout impressive considering they have no real money to spend, but I wonder what another GM would have been able to do with the resources provided the last few years? I'm confident that without Theo and Jed, we are even worse off than we are now. Edit to add: Again, I'm a Theo guy. So I realize I'm bias. Signing And Flipping has been talked about as a strategy for at least like 10 years. This was not some revolutionary idea. And has Kyle points out, flipping has resulted in some bullpen pieces and an ok prospect
