  1. I mentioned it elsewhere, Parker has to clear assignment waivers to be sent back down once we call him up. I don't expect to see him until September.
  2. This was Jackson's highest game score as a Cub
  3. Other than Juanita taking half there really haven't been.
  4. http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/tony-la-russa-eye.jpg Easier to hunt for brains in Phoenix.
  5. This is the girl OMC was fapping over? Yamahama it's fright night.

  7. So, uhhh they hired him to be Towers's boss. Should be fun.
  8. They'd be wasting them in the majors too
  9. at least you acknowledge that multiple hands would be required He never shuts up about his big head.
  10. Samardzija seems to have accepted his fate, and knows he'll get out soon, so he wouldn't be bothered enough to care. I like Bonifacio as a dark horse.
  11. So this is going to be one of those games where the guys that have no future on this team win it for us. I mean, it's much better than the alternative, but I wish Rizzo or Castro were hitting those HRs
  12. The Ricketts seem to have dragged their feet in regards to pretty much every aspect of the rebuild/renovation. It's unfortunate that there didn't seem to be more urgency on their part. They were green.(still are) Have yet to show they're capable owners. My honest thinking is Tom sold Dad on the fact that even if they lose, it's a cash cow. And thought that the renovations would be an easy money grab. Same with getting money from the city. They thought taking a year or two to "get healthy" would be fine, because once the renovations started, they'd start spending. Since it still hasn't, Dad obviously isn't coming off any funds and the debt structure got out ahead of us. And without extra funds, it stays there. And in the meantime, they get to buy the team for free
  13. DeRosa trade was in '09. That'd be a positive then. As Archer would have been here for the new guys. But Garza wouldn't have been. On the other hand they'd have Robinson Chirinos.
  14. That's what I'd set it at too. If forced to bet, I guess I'd take the under. I had them as a 69 win team preseason, and haven't seen anything to make me think they're better than I thought. 16-23 puts them at a 68 win pace.
  15. Do you have a preferred article or anecdote that contends it didn't happen? I'd be pretty interested to see the genesis of the rumor/evidence either way. No link, but the book Wrigleyville does a good job of deconstructing it. Ruth even admitted later he didn't do it. It was an invention by sportswriters that he went along with because he was good at self-promotion. There's also some video floating out there somewhere of the actual "event" They showed it on FOX during a Cubs/Yankee game a while back. He's pretty clearly gesturing towards the Cubs dugout and never comes close to pointing to the OF
  16. DeRosa trade was in '09.
  17. Would you set the over under for wins through game 78 at 32?
  18. Good job leaving off the 34, and continuing to ignore the two huge outlier games. The Cubs suck. They are unlucky to have an ownership/front office that has chosen to field such an awful team. You seem to be implying that few or no other teams have built their run differential on a few great games combined with a few bad games combined with a bunch of meh. I'd guess it is more typical than that. The differential is the differential. You can play all sorts of games if you start eliminating things for different reasons. If we cut out the games where the Cubs start Jackson, our run differential gets really good. There are going to be a lot more Edwin Jackson starts the rest of the way than there will be 12 run victories.
  19. So they're giving out Babe Ruth called shot bobbleheads today to commemorate an event that never happened for a player who never played for us.
  20. If you want to go by Scooter, that's your prerogative, but you don't get to bat 3rd then.
  21. Over the course of 6 months it is more predictive. Over the course of 1.5 months with 2 huge outlier games it is meaningless. worth noting that both pitchers we bombed (Cingrani, Lyons) were likely pitching injured (both were placed on DL immediately following their starts) Well that makes me feel worse. And we padded 6 on in the 9th against Randy Choate who 1. Has gotta be about 50 years old, 2. is a LOOGY, and 3. was clearly out there to just get the game over with.
  22. Hendricks is easily the guy I'm most excited about this season in comparison to how I felt before. (I've only got 4 NSBB Top 20 guys as improved :/)
  23. Pat White says Bama offered him a corvette.
