  1. That'll take a few years to get the design down.
  2. What happens if you turn a big chunk of those sac bunts into K? Removing every single successful sacrifice hit tightens the gap to a Javy only being 1% higher.
  3. Baez has a higher K rate than MLB pitchers as a group.
  4. 1st season since '07 without a 100 loss team. First time since 2010 for Houston alone.
  5. To be fair, it seems like half those games are Yankees-Redsox every year. When I lived in California it was tough seeing the Cubs on national TV. Maybe the ESPN games. In the very least MLBN is equally distributed.
  6. I don't think MLB suffers from a lack of fan exposure to the Yankees and Red Sox. No, they don't. But there's a large nationwide fan base for more than those two teams, which MLB could capitalize on with more nationwide televised games. Logistically it would be a nightmare, filling the left over time slots, etc. I just wondered if it's the next step, to actually improve ratings (without addressing the elephant in the room- making the game more suited to short attention span viewers who demand rapid recurring action). FOX airs 38 national games a year. TBS has 12. ESPN airs 2 a week, MLBN airs 4-5 a week. How much more do you need? And what superstation is going to carry Pittsburgh Pirates baseball?
  7. The article references the walls being broken down for those users. There's no issue there, it just won't generate any needle moving dollars. The issue is those looking for in-market access without the requisite channels broadcasting the game. It ain't happening.
  8. As soon as next season? Almost certainly no. By 2020 or so? Not out of the question. I'd bet it's out of the question. There is a lot of money tied up in cable deals that depend on being the exclusive in-market homes for local teams. How big of a check does MLB want to cut to each of these RSNs?
  9. Yeah I have a hard time seeing that happening. Pretty easy to draw a line from the A's being unable to leave their concrete prison because of resistance from the Giants and then seeing that several times over for an entirely new team in the NY/NJ market. Haven't the Orioles just started to refuse paying the Nats what they owe them? Or vice versa?
  10. I think a 3rd team in NY/NJ makes more sense than Montreal, but I can't imagine the fight that would endure with the Steinbrenners and Wilpons to fit a team in there
  11. [expletive] YES Got him
  12. Are these real rumors Sulley?
  13. Does authenticated mean subscribers to the channel that is locally broadcasting the game? If it doesn't mean that, I can't see it as anything but a bad thing for us. I really doubt MLBAM is broken up by 2020 Yeah, if WGN is only making 50k per broadcast, then that's like 90% on WGN and 10% on the product they're televising. My understanding is that the 'over the top' option would basically be like WatchESPN. Prove you have whatever channel that's broadcasting locally to be able to stream it. Doesn't sound like a super option to me, although we're still what, 5.5-6 years from that eventuality? 5.5 years ago WatchESPN was ESPN360 and looked wayyyy different than it does now. The thing is, a physical channel still needs to exist on local cable, otherwise what's to stop you from offering the product to national base, thus violating blackout restrictions. I don't see what the Cubs gain from it financially.
  14. I refuse to believe WGN is only making 50K per Cubs broadcast. Does authenticated mean subscribers to the channel that is locally broadcasting the game? If it doesn't mean that, I can't see it as anything but a bad thing for us. I really doubt MLBAM is broken up by 2020
  15. Thanks TT
  16. Ivory seems to me a safer bet to do that It's what I went with, figured Ivory is way more likely to get a TD
  17. How did a lineup with Baez in it only lose by 2 Ks. How did it make sense to still be starting Baez??
  18. For me, it's any non-football injury is potentially laugh-worthy. Seriously what a jackass. I saw it right when it happened and thought 'instant karma'. "There's nothing wrong with being excited when you make a play. Look at all the work you put into it. All the time and practice you've spent and put into it. And then go out there in a game and execute it well and competitively and make a play … you should be excited about that!" - Bill Belichick Yeah and a great way to show that is a nice hearty fist pump or high five haha. It seems like it happens every year someone blows out something or breaks something leaping in the air celebrating. Seriously though if you want to celebrate there are a lot of different ways that don't put your body at risk. He didn't bungee jump from the top of the goalpost.
  19. Chris Ivory vs. Chris Johnson in need of 8 points.
  20. Portland too small?
  21. So here's this lunatic. http://www.pjstar.com/article/20140918/NEWS/140919098/10960/NEWS
  22. And #1 CB. Gah, true. Although counting IR people, also #3 WR And Johnny Knox
  23. Poooor Wiggum
  24. If the Reds hold on tonight, the Cardinals would have to sweep us to clinch
  25. It's September, be glad people are talking about anything. ETA: Milwaukee games should be for discussing the morbidly obese.
