  1. Molitor is going to be the new manager and Bosio played 7 seasons with him. I doubt he'll sacrifice what he's worked hard to accomplish in Chicago just before they get championship caliber good for the sake of getting the band back together at a dumpster fire Why is Minnesota a dumpster fire? I see three guys on the current roster that I see and go "Those guys are keepers": Mauer, Dozier, Hughes. Plouffe gets an honorable mention. The rest is stopgaps and dart throwing hoping something sticks. They got nice results out of Danny Santana but who the hell is Danny Santana again? And their pitching is embarrassingly bad. When you see that chart that was posted in the musings thread that showed how many 97mph pitches were thrown by each organization and you see Minnesota at the bottom with 1 (one entire pitch all season that was 97mph... and even then someone looked up pitch FX and saw it was actually a 96.6 mph pitch), it's not as surprising after you look at their pitching roster. You see that and then all of a sudden you go "Oh, that's why". It's pretty bad. Buxton, Sano, and Meyer are great pieces to build around, and I'm sure they plan on doing that, but because of the injuries Buxton and Sano probably won't reach the majors permanently until 2016 at the earliest, and even then they'll be extremely young and given the history of young prospects reaching the majors early they might not reach a level of sustained success for another couple of years. As odd as it is to say this, the Cubs represent the better path to sustained World Series contention than not just the Twins, but probably any other team in baseball. They are built for the success and the party is just now about to start. He'd be jumping off the balcony of the penthouse suite in hopes of hitting the awning on his way down to the lobby entrance just so he can make his way back up. And then on his way back he's gonna have to take the stairs cause the elevator is "Out of Order", but that's just the sign Theo & Co. put on there because everyone else is worthless and weak and doesn't deserve such luxuries. And when Bosio sees them get on the elevator and then look at the stairwell he has to climb with Molitor he's gonna be like "That sure is a lot of stairs" and Molitor will be like "Shut up fat ass you need to lose weight anyways" and Bosio will be like "Well that's not very nice, friend" and Molitor will be like "I'm not your friend I'm your boss, now mush!" and now I have no idea what I'm talking about anymore Their pitching, now that's a dumpster fire, but their entire starting lineup posted wRC+s above 100. That includes a 25 yr old SS, and 23 yr old CF, RF, and DH. Sano ended 2013 in AA. I don't see why you'd expect him to not be up until 2016. Can we not call the Cubs the balcony of a penthouse on the backs of a highly rated farm system while calling another team whose future success is based on a highly rated farm system a dumpster fire?
  2. We should pay another guy 100,000 to teach Baez to not strike out.

  4. I wouldn't be worried unless Sveum goes to Minnesota.

  6. Dont Tennessee and A&M suck?
  7. Guillen is a [expletive] buffoon
  8. Odd. Lind has a really nice contract for the next 2 years and Estrada is a FA next year.

  10. Welp, Cleveland will probably go 8-74 and yet will still be ahead of the celtics But the Celtics won their first game, I don't understand.

  12. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/30732209-419/joe-maddon-cubs-historic-deal-announcement-could-come-thursday.html#.VFLJaRZsySo Wittenmeyer claims Theo still hasn't talked to Renteria.
  13. Butler, Infante, Hosmer, Moustakos and Perez were all worse than expected.
  14. Well that's kinda my point (reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated) Also, just to be pedantic, wouldn't you bet against any team to win the World Series?
  15. Alternatively, Jason Hammel was a second(at best) choice.
  16. Why? Their infield is young, and they can apparently conjure league average OFers out of thin air. mostly the giant forks hanging out of Matt Cain & Tim Lincecum...and does Panda stay? what's the rotation going to look like the next few years? all their top arms in the minors took pretty big steps back this season That fork has been in Lincecum for their last 2 titles. Cain was barely mediocre this year, and was probably pitching through elbow pain. I have no gauge on what Sandoval does as I haven't really paid attention to guys that won't concern the Cubs, but the Giants have shown a willingness to spend money, so I'd expect them to sign a fairly decent sized name this offseason either to bolster the rotation or replace Panda
  17. Lester, Scherzer and Martin probably get close to that That would be more than 60M. I think Kyle's key qualifier was "they'd want" There's still a small part of me worried that they're going to continue taking a hard line against what they deem a player is worth and let him walk if bidding goes beyond that.
  18. I have roughly 55 million for 14 players with arb estimates, though that could be driven down if they buyout Sweeney, non-tender Wood, etc. How could they buy out Sweeney?
  19. 60-65M from what starting point?
  20. Why? Their infield is young, and they can apparently conjure league average OFers out of thin air.
  21. Instead we live in a world where Sabean has three titles. Go ahead and crack a bottle and tell us why this is so outrageous. Pizza is on its way
  22. The fact that the move is a no-brainer should tell you that it has nothing to do with how the organization felt about Renteria. This was a matter of the guy the FO felt was the best manager in the business becoming available, so...uh sorry guy we have pegged as 12th, we're gonna upgrade.
  23. Stupid Sexy Flanders nice guy Brett
  24. So the Rays apparently told their coaches they'd be retained a day or 2 ago, should we assume we keep everyone else?
