  1. Where's Rodney and Pete Gas?
  2. That'd have to fall under tampering Why? He's not signed with any team at that point. Shady negotiating tactics, yes, but tampering, I don't think it qualifies. It's coming to a verbal agreement with somebody you're ineligible to sign. It's not unlike entering a verbal contract with a 15 year old. Now the Dodgers case was worse because it was a written contract, and they likely enacted in fraud by fudging the birth year for Beltre, but it's still circumventing the rules in place to come to an agreement with a player you're not allowed to. The Cubs are allowed to sign Moncada, it just has to be for 250K before July 2nd. They're allowed to negotiate and discuss with him all they want so I don't know why they can't say, well we can offer you 250K today, but if you wait until July 2nd we can offer you 45M. It's not tampering because they are allowed to negotiate with him. I'd expect the commissioner's office to be pretty pissed off, but I don't see anything that circumvents it. It's negotiating a price that they can't legally offer.
  3. What the hell are you talking about? He missed the '12 playoffs after one of his ACLs tore apart in game 1. Pretty sure he meant the '13 playoffs.
  4. Ohio State lost to a bad Va Tech team

  6. I feel like teams who lose 59-0 should never be ranked.
  7. He's played 14 games in the last 3 seasons. AND THIS WAS THE BEST ONE
  8. That was March. That exchange makes me sad because I thought Castro would take a leap in '13 after having a full year of competent instruction. Instead he laid a giant steaming turd.

  10. You could add Baez and more to that package and I'd still be cool with it. And the Nats still wouldn't haha remember when you wouldn't trade castro for harper That was Trout, stupid.

  12. On a per IP basis, that projection looks to be pretty similar to his 2012 and 2013, if a bit pessimistic. As to why it's only projecting 180 IP, I dunno, maybe his 2010 is still held against him. It's got him 1 win per 62.8 innings. '14 - 38.4 '13 - 59.3 '12 - 57.5 Seems silly.
  13. I asked if Steamer was any good because of stuff like Zimmerman having a 2.9 WAR projection for next year coming off a 5.2, and not having a number that low in any of his 4 full seasons. Am I missing something?
  14. He does. So you wouldn't do Castro for Zimmerman straight up with Zimmerman agreeing to an extension at market value? No. Depending on the details and any other players involved, at that point I would consider Baez. But think of the surplus value!
  15. 1.5 years of Samardzija, an inferior pitcher, got Addison Russell. And Jason Hammel Because our FO is awesome And Billy McKinney. And the guy on the other side of that trade is pretty damn great too
  16. I hope we have a Robbie Ray
  17. It's really difficult to prove
  18. So is my hypothetical conversation a "negotiation" or a "dealing." Please help me. A dealing.
  19. Huh. On my googling, apparently Matt Bruback(3rd piece in the Aramis trade), not a big fan of the Cubs organization. http://mlb-tampering.blogspot.com/
  20. That is the very definition of tampering. Except that it kinda isn't. http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/tampering.html You aren't familiar with sports are you? You aren't familiar with reading, are you? Yes, the Cubs didn't strong-arm a witness, alter a document, or put out false results to make their testing look better. This is all quite relevant.
  21. That's my main concern. I don't see enough of a notable upgrade with Martin. A stud pitcher is going to make a huge difference over whatever 5th starter gets tossed off. An impact OF is going to eliminate some crappy guy from dragging down the team. Martin is going to be better than Welington, but I do not see it being by a wide margin. Right, replacing Felix Doubront is a lot more important than replacing Welington Castillo competent replacements for felix doubront are a lot easier to find than plus position players who have a positive impact on the entire pitching staff (especially compared to the guy being replaced). Isn't that begging the question?
