  1. Lester has 35.4 fWAR through age 30. Buehrle at 36.6 and Lackey at 29 are the only ones remotely close to him. (Cliff Lee only had 23 through his age 30 season.) I'm not sure but I thought that link was supposed to be encouraging. Certainly didn't cause me to worry. Can you explain how that can be encouraging whatsoever? Because even when including total turds like Ryan Vogelsong and Chris Capuano, those pitchers averaged 1.5 WAR? And if you expand it to 35+(Adds in Kuroda, Dickey, Colon, and Hudson), the average jumps to 1.7 Neither of those numbers could be considered near useless.

  3. That seems overly harsh considering every pro athlete is a boring vanilla waste of an interview. Would be nice to eliminate the team I'm most worried about.
  4. Don't worry...after we keep rolling over our payroll flexibility because we can't find a good FA to sign at our predetermined price we will have $150 million to spend in the 2018 offseason. I didn't realize the Tanaka fund was strictly for when Tanaka next becomes available. Hopefully he opts out.
  5. I'm not sure you can get any 1 of those guys for Valbuena and Vogelbach.
  6. There will be a thorough review of Jameis's shove on January 13th
  7. Maybe someday another top team will be undefeated and dropped from #1 without losing. Until then, we'll just keep winning, unlike everyone else. If/when we beat UF, do we get recognition for beating an SEC team? Or does it not count since they suck for the most part? You'll get credit for beating an SEC team. Just like Indiana does.
  8. Things Kyle knows: MADtv sketches Things Kyle doesn't know: Pearl Jam songs
  9. So is Brindza like Mackey Sasser or something?
  10. Do the Evolution is like their 15th most famous song.
  11. Mike Patrick just had to be informed that an elbow hitting the ground means you're down.
  12. Don't sully the issue with facts. Say two people who didn't read the article Florida State has 0 wins over ranked teams. End of story. No amount of stat-twisting is changing that. ETA: Forgot Louisville jumped into the CFP rankings today. One win over #24 Louisville. ND will probably knock them off, but that might just push them back into it
  13. I think he's saying having to talk to Derrick on the sidelines makes him want to get back on the court and the [expletive] away from him as soon as possible.
  14. Ivory. Jonas Gray was late to practice on Friday, and Belichick has a rule that if you're late you don't practice. Revis had this earlier in the year and his playing time was not affected. Does hardass Belichick give Gray no playing time? Gray vs. DET Tate @ NE
  15. They don't want to be sore for Thanksgiving.
  16. He just wanted to make sure he was nowhere near Milwaukee.
  17. Yeah, I get that there's some "lash out" reaction when something like that happens, but blaming the messenger is silly. What was silly about it is if there was to be a lash out, you'd expect it to be immediate. It's like they got sick of bitching about their bosses unprofessionalism, so they had to find a new outlet. I wonder if there was finger pointing going on from their bosses at Feder as their excuse for not letting them know.
  18. That I 100% agree with. My only beef with the reporter is maybe (maybe) he could have reached out to them for comment. But as I typed that I'm not sure that even makes sense because several people got fired and he couldn't be expected to contact all of them. ETA: But ultimately, Feder probably couldn't have known that the bosses at that station would be so unprofessional. So instead of reporting the story, he's supposed to contact the employees directly to inform them directly they're fired?
  19. I hope they've walked back their silly anger at Feder for breaking the story unless they're willing to never report a sports story until after a presser has been sent out
  20. Thoughts from Diamondbacks blog. Yes, I would do that trade they are suggesting in a second. http://www.azsnakepit.com/2014/11/19/7247561/trading-miguel-montero-diamondbacks-cubs Judging by the poll results, more Cubs fans visit that blog than D-Backs fans.
  21. The Cubs fan base is [expletive] awful, and it's easy for the Cardinals to be propped up as dedicated when they never [expletive] lose. Oh, come on. The people suck, just like any large group of people (and large group of baseball fans), but they draw everywhere they go, especially when they're good. If the Cubs fan base is [expletive] awful by the standards we're talking about (not whether they're douches or morons or racists or whatever other negative qualities you get with large groups of baseball fans), I would love to know how you'd characterize the rest of baseball. [expletive] awful?
