  1. Haha, nevermind. At least I got to be obnoxious.
  2. Boeckman never even thought about passing there.
  3. That was a freakin great punt.
  4. Big Ten can't compete with SEC speed.
  5. If LSU wins, I bet Boeckman's their MVP. If OSU wins, it'll be in spite of Boeckman. Boeckman sucks.
  6. That National Anthem sucked.
  7. I'm taking your word on this since I haven't had a chance to read anything about this yet. I don't know why McCamey and Brock can't be our backcourt, with Alexander, Randle and Pruitt up front. Frazier as a shooting guard is even worse than Frazier running point. I got it from Weber's postgame comments. He said that his coaches threatened to not sho wup if DMac wasn't starting. DMac Meachem Alexander Davis Pruitt Lets see what Davis has in an extended role. I have no problem with that lineup. Except I don't want to see Meachem nor Frazier in it. Meachem and Randle almost make me ashamed to say I'm from Central Illinois. Well, that's ridiculous hyperbole. Brian Randle is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I'll always be a huge fan of his because of the way he carries himself outside the court. Beyond that in the rare instances he does what he should be doing he's an amazing player. I also don't see how you can be mad at Meachem. He wanted to walk on to the hometown school. It isn't his fault Weber did such a poor job recruiting that Trent is forced to start and carry the scoring load. True, I didn't mean to imply Meacham was one to be embarrassed of, I just don't have the same experience with him.
  8. Not just the best LF arm, there's nobody even close.

  12. I'm confused. This analogy would make sense if Roberts weren't better than DeRosa. He is. I expect better from you, SSR. It's more my annoyance that we(not we we, the royal we, the idiot we) have been trying to marginalize DeRosa all offseason just for this purpose of making him our new Jose Macias. It's another sign of Cubs management fixing a hole that isn't there. Must get a leadoff hitter. Must get shiny happy clubhouse people. Must get a Japanese guy. Must get a lefty. Again, as I mentioned Roberts is better than DeRosa. Probably by a couple wins. But IMO, Gallagher and Marshall are better than Dempster and Marquis. Cedeno is better than Theriot. The original trade I wasn't that upset with(Marshall, Murton, Patterson?) Giving up 2 major league ready starting pitchers when you have holes in your major league starting rotation is nutty unless you're getting a huge upgrade in return. We are not.
  13. Oh, we're going 100 even if nothing ever happens. If an actual trade takes place, this is setting non-game thread records.
  14. Mark DeRosa isn't a really good option as a backup LF, RF, or 1B. He's a really good option as a backup 2B or 3B, and a pretty good option as a right handed pinch hitter. Moving DeRosa to a utility role so he can take time away from Daryle Ward isn't my idea of optimizing your abilities. Remember how widely the Phillies were ridiculed for moving Brett Myers to the closer role. That's what we're trying to to do with DeRosa. This way we can have him get 1 or 2 ABs a game instead of a full 4. BRILLIANT!
  15. Go Ohio State. Ew.
  16. I would do Roberts/Fukudome. While I want Derosa to get a shot at SS, I would put the odds of him being able to stay there defensively at minimal at best. I think most agree DeRosa would probably be a below average defensive SS, but I don't think he'll be Brendan Harris out there. I think DeRosa's offense + defense > Theriot's offense + defense. Of course it's dumb for me to bring up cause there's no way they do it.
  17. Speed kills, and it also bothers opposing pitchers, and could cause them to make mistakes. I don't understand how anyone can justify that Roberts is not a good leadoff hitter and wont help this team. The fact that anyone says this is just insane. What has the cubs one glaring need been forever? The answer is good players. Nobody's denying that Roberts is a good player, or that he would help his team. People are pretty annoyed at giving up (what might be) a lot for a player that they don't think is a lot better than the current option. I personally think Roberts would be a decent upgrade when figuring in the AL to NL move, but he should be far from our top priority. We have a black hole of suck occupying SS right now, and we're trying to dump our one chance at the position not being the suck. Our 4 and 5 spots in the rotation are iffy at best, and we're trying to dump our 2 best chances at bringing some goodness and stability to the 4 and 5 spots. I don't understand how you can just throw out anecdotal evidence and expect everyone to swallow it down like a spoonful of sugar.
  18. How can you put down Juan Pierre for getting thrown out trying to steal too often(career rate of 75%) and hold up the White Sox of '05(SB rate of 67%)
  19. Wonder how much it would cost to get Pierre from LA on> He is not a prototypical lead-off hitter. For saying something so dumb and trying to insult me, why don't you show me your baseball smarts and tell me what a prototypical lead-off hitter is. Then compare it to Pierre. Too bad the only positive thing we can say about Pierre is he doesn't strike out. Other than that, he gets caught stealing way to much, and he sure as hell doesn't know how to get on base. Rickey Henderson is the prototypical leadoff man, I don't see what he has to do with Brian Roberts.
  20. This won't end well. Alright, I'll start things. White Sox were 3rd in the AL in stolen bases in '05. They were also thrown out trying to steal more than anyone. They were 11th in OBP. The White Sox won because of their pitching and defense. Their offense was pathetic. The only part of it that wasn't was their power(4th in HRs) Their pitching was very very good (1st in ERA in a hitter's park)
  21. how can someone write that article and never once type out "Southern Methodist University'"? What if a casual fan thinks this is Southern Miss? Dumb Isn't Southern Miss USM?
  22. Can we stop treating Sean Marshall like Les Walrond. He was an above average starter last year.
  23. I'm thinking more of a dynasty league at this point. We have a minimal keeper league going already, but some of us would like to branch out and kill all of our remaining free time. We kinda do a middle ground on that. 25 round major league draft.(Includes anyone, but major league draftees don't count as "prospects") 12 keepers every year. Draft 5 prospects every year(anyone with less than the requirements for Rookie of the Year Award). All prospects with less than the ROTY requirements are free keepers(max of 10 free prospect keeps). Any graduated prospect(A prospect who eclipsed the ROTY requirements that year) is a free keep for the next year(counts as your 25th round pick, and on up if you have multiple i.e. 3 graduated prospects go as 23rd, 24th, and 25th round picks.) Prospects don't count towards active 25 man roster. Can be shipped on and off roster at will until they lose rookie status. once they eclipse that mark, if they're on your roster and you dump them they're a free agent.
  24. i don't mean to overstate things, just saying that Penn State is pretty decent this year and losing to them isn't as bad as losing to Michigan or Northwestern might be. have they passed Illinois as a program? no way. but i love how all you illini guys do is bitch and moan about your own program, but god forbid someone says something about it. Ok so which is it, has Penn State passed the Illini's program or not? I have no problem with somebody saying something about the Illini's program, when what is being said is true. But in this case your original comment was ridiculous. Penn State isnt a good team, and either are the Illini. Is this the worse loss the Illini have had? No way we just lost last week to Tenn St., but its definatley not a loss to be proud of right now, and it wont be a loss to be proud of at the end of the year. Penn State will be in the bottom 5 with Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan, and Iowa when the season is done. I think Penn St.'s got a decent chance of finishing ahead of Minnesota and Purdue. Probably unlikely they finish 5th, but if I had to guess I'd probably put em there. The Illini have been trending downward since the national title game, but they really aren't anymore. To say they're trending downward implies that in the coming seasons they'll be worse, and they won't, they're likely to improve each season more than the previous for the next 3 years.
