  1. Yeah, I wouldn't take that bet. Illinois is the only Big Ten team to beat Wisconsin at the Kohl Center since Bo Ryan took over. Most likely it will be a slower paced game and with how the Badgers have shot free throws this year I would imagine this game might end up being closer than you think. The game should be over at halftime. I'd say this is as close to a gimme win for the Badgers as there will be for the rest of the year. Wisconsin has Northwestern and Michigan at home shortly after this.
  2. If I wasn't so adamant about betting against my teams, I'd lay some decent coin on Wisconsin.
  3. The average leadoff hitter had a 759 OPS last year, if that stays the average the next 8 years, Soriano has a good chance of remaining average for his position. I'll say "well played" before the freak out responses.
  4. How in the hell did Illinois beat them? And by beat them, I mean by blowing them out. ASU's first game of the year. I said when it happened how big a win that was, because ASU was going to become a good team by the end of the year, and it would wind up being a win against a team with a good RPI.
  5. Derrek Lee's a good bet to have the best OBP on the team, and a pretty decent bet to be the best hitter on the team.
  6. So any guesses as to who our panic move 2B will be if the Roberts deal falls through?
  7. "How do you half-expect something?" "It's just a turn of phrase." How do you turn a phrase?
  8. The teams that score the most runs each season are the teams who put up the best team OBP. The more your team is on base, the more the team scores, the more plate appearances guys get. If you go back to Derrek Lee's 2005, not only did Lee suffer on plate appearances because of the poorly constructed line up, he had limited at bats with runners on base. His 99 XBH's that season ranks among the top offensive seasons in baseball history. It is absolutely mind boggling that with that production while hitting number 3 in the lineup that he barely reached 100 RBIs. He led the league in: BA SLG OPS Hits Total Bases Doubles Runs Created XBH In the top 5 in: OBP (4th) Runs (2nd) HR (2nd) But finished distant 7th in RBI That's what happens when you put Neifi Perez batting 1st or 2nd. And Jose Macias And 2005 Corey Patterson.
  9. The HOF will accept input from a player, but it's ultimately the hall's decision, and Dawson would certainly wind up an Expo or Cub.
  10. I never had them number one. I've maintained that LSU was better than them all season long, as well as Oklahoma. They return everybody and their mother. There's no reason they shouldn't beat top 2 or 3. The UGA/UF game next season will likely feature the #1 and #2 teams in the country when it goes down. I searched, only found you/Sagarin having them at #2 when they had 3 losses. Which was/is laughable. Then they lost to Michigan. Which was awesome.
  11. I know you didn't think they were the best team last year. I seemed to recall you having them at the top of your Meph rankings one week, can't remember if it was when they had 2 or 3 losses.
  12. 2 years in a row?
  13. Politics my ass. If your conference champ didn't play like gutless choking dogs against a horrible Pitt team they woulda gotten the chance to smoke OSU. They didn't. I enjoyed this part more than I should have. I enjoyed my mastery of the english language.
  14. Politics my ass. If your conference champ didn't play like gutless choking dogs against a horrible Pitt team they woulda gotten the chance to smoke OSU. They didn't. They had the same record as LSU and all the other 2 loss teams. Never will a BE team that has the same record as one of the Big 3 (Big 10/12 and SEC plus ND/USC) get a chance to play in the BCS Championship game. Look at the rankings...WV killed OU but yet they are behind Missouri who beat that ever so tough Arkansas team. Again, the politics of this make it suck. If West Virginia lost to a non-horrible team 5 weeks earlier, they'd probably be in the title game. They lost to a horrible team on the last week of the season. You didn't see any Mizzou fans around here thinking they should have been in the title game. They lost in the last week to a much better team than Pitt. Like it or not, teams are rewarded/penalized for how they finish. West Virginia finished about as poor as you could to a regular season, and therefore were knocked out of the title game. I can't imagine how you could possibly be making this argument when heading into the last week of the season West Virginia was one of 5 1 loss or less teams and they were set for the national title game.
  15. No, no, football. I can't imagine what that could be a ranking for.
  16. You know they played Texas last year. And play I wanna say USC next year. And that effected 2007, how? Sure sounds like you're implying OSU never plays anyone out of conference.

  19. Like LSU is all sunshine lollipops and rainbows?
  20. Ohio St. better go undefeated next year if it wants to be in the title game. The voters will make sure a 1 loss OSU team doesn't make it after the last 2 years.
  21. Can't wait for the return matchup in Columbus.
  22. Todd Boeckman is a very good quarterback.
