    He's not a rookie. Soto will win it in a walk, with Jurrjens being the only other guy I could see getting 1st place votes.

    That's what I would do at this point. Play Hoff in RF and move Kos to CF. Edmonds had a nice run but he's been bad the past month or so. 808 OPS the last 28 days.

    We're going to have to play much better to even come in with a 7-12 finish. I know you're positively giddy right now, but why are our last 19 games going to be played at the level of our last 8? If that's the way things worked, wouldn't we have dominated these last 8 games considering we were hot heading into those? We're 8-8 our last 16, why aren't we going to keep up that pace? Better yet, we're 86-57 over our last 143 games, why not play at that pace?

    Well, they definitely have options now. They can cut him and bring up another player with his 40 man spot. They can DL him, and then sneak another player onto the playoff roster using his spot. Or, they could decide they don't need either of those things and do nothing. That wording of that sentence is really strange though. He returned home and "informed" the general manager that he couldn't pitch anymore? That screams that something is going on behind the scenes. That was my thought as well. I didn't read the article but it sounded to me like Lieber wasn't happy with his role, and took his ball and went home.

    If this is true, then it's tough guy Lou getting all pouty about a pitcher needing rest. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt for now.

    I think that's Van Dyck's speculation because of the order of the rotation for the regular season. Harden can start the 2nd to last game of the year and still pitch in game 3.

    Dick Stockton is so terrible. It's like he's either watching the game on tape delay or has an obstructed view seat.

    Please explain what it would take to be a very good team in your mind? Best offense, and 1 of the best pitching staffs in baseball isnt good enough for you? RedVerbs is actually Joe Morgan, so there aren't any good teams. Earlier this season, RedVerbs called the Cardinals the most talented of the wild card teams.

    Ummm, Milwaukee had to face Peavy and Young in back to back games. The Padres are the 27 Yankees next to that pathetic Reds team that we lost a series to. I'd say losing 5 of 6 to a bad Astros team and a pathetic Reds team would be melting down. Chris Young is TERRIBLE this year.

    You're like old UMFan on speed. The Brewers are making the playoffs.

    All we have to do is split the series. The pressure is on the Brewers, they have to sweep or at worst take the series. The split is the key. The split means Milwaukee needs to beat us outright in order to win the division. It also knocks 6 games off the schedule with nothing lost. Milwaukee isn't making up 6 games in the standings over those other 16 games. Based on that, I'll say a 9-13 finish does it as long as we split with the Brewers.

    Gotcha. Not sure I believe that, but at least I understand now what you were saying. :wink: Everyone's allowed one crackpot theory. This is really just an extension on a more widely held belief that Loria was sent to destroy Montreal baseball. Whether that was Seligula mandated or not, Loria had no intention of making things work in Montreal.

    Loria was sent to destroy the Marlins franchise and in turn get them a new stadium. Failing that(back when it was on the table), they'd be there to be contracted.
