  1. larsen seems like a bitter old dick. there was an espn story about him when he came to feller's museum in iowa and he came off like an a-hole in that story too. Aren't pretty much all old athletes bitter old dicks?
  2. I'd imagine going to Penn St. and Northwestern plays a pretty big role in that.
  3. Your opinion on sliding feet first into first base?
  4. I too think DeRosa will have more walks, sacs, and HBPs over 280 PAs than he did over ~600 PAs. Probably why he's sulking so much on the bench cause he keeps getting beaned and being forced to sacrifice.
  5. BROADEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE DAMMIT
  6. Then why did you talk about Illinois last year? Or Illinois football this year? because when illinois basketball is down, everyone notices. when iowa basketball is down and a pointless waste of time, the sky is blue. Over the last 3 years Iowa is one game better than Illinois in the Big Ten. We had a coaching move in the middle of that 3 years, Bruce has no such excuse. Except maybe that it can be a distraction to have players leave another teammate to die. What about the irrelevant Illinois football team this year? Why were they discussed? why just the past 3 years? but i guess a tourney appearance for the hawkeyes is considered a successful season, and that's just fine for a largley irrelevant program. you guys are doin great! you can go to the football thread to discuss illinois football if you'd like. i thought this was the basketball thread. but if you're asking me, illinois football was just about irrelevant enough to beat the hawkeyes. I was obviously cherry-picking the numbers to help state my case. But the fact remains that Illinois hasn't been relevant since Deron Williams left. No more relevant than Iowa. You don't want anyone to discuss irrelevant teams. Yet you continually discussed (well actually you just whined about officiating and how only you are doomed to root for teams with terrible luck) Illinois football. They were completely irrelevant this year and haven't been any more relevant historically than Iowa basketball. And if you want to go the head-to-head route, I wasn't bragging when Iowa beat Illinois in '07. We stunk, they went to the Rose Bowl. It didn't really mean much. Fun facts. The year after Deron Williams left we went 18-0 to start the season. The last remaining undefeated team in America. We won at UNC and at Wisconsin. Thanks for the history lesson though. Good call on us not being relevant after Deron Williams. What I really like about that statement though is how pretty much everyone, Jay Bilas included, didn't even think Deron Williams was all that great in college. Hell Dee Brown and Luther Head were the first team All Americans. And Luther Head wasn't a top 100 recruit.
  7. Why'd I put money on Kentucky to win? Seriously guys, we don't even get to beat Iowa by 30 for another month, can we reel it in a bit?
  8. Trust me when I say my hatred of Iowa has nothing to do with saying they won't win more than 6 games this year. I said it in the preseason when somebody said they'd be better this year.(Though I did say they'd have more than their 13 wins they had total last year. The Big Ten is vastly improved, and the only guaranteed win Iowa had in conference season just happened in a dogfight. Iowa will beat a couple teams they shouldn't by getting hot from 3 point range, but I don't think you guys realize how bad this Indiana team is. I was wrong about Iowa football this year. It happens. I don't recall saying Iowa would win 4 games last year in basketball, but it's quite possible. They won 6. It's not like I said they'd be awful and they made the tourney. They were a bad team last year, and a bad team this year.
  9. And if Chester's dunk is any precedent they wouldn't have called the foul if he made it anyway.
  10. What the hell happened to Tisdale?
  11. It's not swatting the ball away when you hit the guy's arm.
  12. And geez, sorry Iowa guys, didn't realize what I'd start.
  13. HOLY [expletive] CHESTER FRAZIER
  14. pretty impressive you can come to this conclusion because of one game. even more impressive you can come to it after praising iowa the whole preconference season and as recently as a couple days ago. I praised Iowa mainly on what I saw in the box score, not what I saw in person. I was impressed by the OSU loss because I didn't think the loss of Lighty would mean that much. Watching them face Minnesota today I think I was wrong. I never wavered on my belief that Iowa was #10 in conference, and even as recently as the Lipscomb loss, I still gave IU a fighting chance against them at home. The Drake loss had me questioning things a bit. This win has me calling into question the entire season. Through the extreme early part of the Big Ten season, 3 teams haven't looked good. Michigan, Iowa, and IU. Of course it's early, but there's really no reason that IU should ever be in a Big Ten road game all year let alone having it come down to the last 30 seconds of the game. The talent disparity is really that big that IU should lose every road game by 20. And yeah, some of it is taking the piss out of you guys, but this was a bad basketball game where even when Iowa was up double digits it wasn't pretty. I know Big Ten basketball isn't pretty, but this set things back a bit. I will say(and I'm probably biased by the fact that I was rooting for Iowa) that it seemed there was no homecourt ref advantage that I usually expect in Big Ten play. I hope the officials aren't playing the NCAA card and "taking into account the current state of Indiana basketball"
  15. They haven't had a great win all year, and have had some bad wins against some terrible teams. They should be ranked after this one though.
  16. lawl, Iowa fighting for last in the Big Ten Maybe you guys can squeak out 2 conference wins and pull out 10th place. Nah it's fine, a team full of walk-ons and scholarship players that Purdue wouldn't let walk on will definitely win 4 conference games this year. Unless IU has 4 more games against Iowa, they aren't touching 4 wins. Iowa sucks and I'm feeling quite confident in my under on the under 6 bet I made earlier this year.
  17. This IU game combined with OSU's effort vs. Minnesota paints an ugly scene for Iowa basketball.
  18. I think Daniel Moore is my least favorite player in the Big 10.
  19. ND sending St. John's to the line down 5. Think that's over. Ed DeChelis should take sole responsibility for this loss. The PSU gameplan has been positively inept down the stretch.
  20. Is Ed Dechelis in a coma?
  21. Spencer Tollackson's analysis consists of yelling NO! over and over again.
  22. Rankings should be fun this week. #7 in a dogfight with a terrible team. #9 lost to an unranked team at home. #14 is down big to a team that didn't receive a vote in the AP poll. #15 loses to an unranked team #16 loses it's 4th game of the year, 3rd in a row, 3rd to an unranked team. #18 loses to an unranked team #19 loses to an unranked team #21, #23, & #24 all lose.
  23. PSU's offense now consists of Tailor Battle dribbling for awhile and firing a 3.
