  1. Texas should really be on the bubble. If Griffin didn't get concussed they'd be coming up on 18-10 with a 7-7 conference record.
  2. Zambrano sucked for a lot of last season and 2007 was Hill's best year. So what's your point? Zambrano at his worst matches Hill at his best. I guess I can agree with that. Carlos Zambrano had a 4.52 ERA when removing his best month in 2007.
  3. And on the topic of DePaul, Carmody absolutely needs to pounce on Chicago while he has the chance. DePaul doesn't have much hope for the future, but they're not gonna go 0-18 every year, and Wainwright really isn't that bad of a recruiter. But when you've got an 0-18 ugly ugly season, it's not gonna be easy. Northwestern needs to put itself out there as THE Chicago program. Sell them on the idea of playing in their hometown and not having to take a 40 minute bus ride for it. If UIC and Loyola have their ish together, DePaul could sink even further. The problem is if they're not gonna fire Wainwright, there's not much they can do. They need some new, young, energy in there. Robinson should be A#1, but there are others out there that can do a hell of a lot better. I know there's a financial crunch, but there's gotta be some rich alum who wants him out that can help them out. They're never going to get out of the cellar with Wainwright there. It's too bad, he's supposedly a hell of a nice guy, and does things the right way, but it just hasn't worked out.
  4. but DePaul doesn't care. They get their cut of the Big East pie and don't have to spend any money on coaching or recruits. joining that conference was the worst idea ever. Joining it was a great idea. Putting 0 effort into upgrading the men's basketball program was the worst idea ever. Joining it was never a good idea. DePaul wasn't going to gain any recruiting advantage out east going against some of those monsters, and they were opening up Chicago as a showcase for teams like UConn, Georgetown, Syracuse, whomever. DePaul freaked out because they were worried they'd be the last team standing in C-USA.
  5. Schilling's all about his public image, and knows if the Cubs win a world series and he's even on the playoff roster, he'll sail into the hall of fame for teaching him how to win. Do that Curt, and I won't hate you so much.
  6. I like this. Koskie was everybody's backup plan when Aramis was up for free agency IIRC.
  7. Rich Hill had a 4.40 ERA when removing his best month in 2007. Carlos Zambrano had a 4.40 ERA when removing his best month in 2008.
  8. Loria doesn't deserve to breathe.
  9. Cause he's a headcase, one pitch rich, doesn't show emotion, etc.
  10. Hey guys, take away this shitty guy's best 5 start span, and compare him to everyone else in the majors including their best 5 start stint and he's only average!! [expletive] that guy!
  11. There's a pretty big difference between Manny is not a smart negotiator because he turned down a giant contract when there's only 1 bidder and Manny's an [expletive], [expletive] him for wanting to make what he thinks he's worth!!! I hope he dies in a fire. And if Manny winds up getting better than this offer, are there gonna mea culpas from everyone who hated on him in this thread?
  12. This is obviously the issue. That and the ego[expletive] of having the city revolve around you. Seriously who cares about this? It makes the conference and the tournament look small-time. The Big Ten plays this nonstop media war with everyone calling them boring and bad and behind the times, and they go and stage their annual event in Indianapolis?? There's something to be said about the image you project, and your image is constantly disparaged, why not do something grand and extravagant and showcase yourselves like you're a big deal. Not go to the biggest city that will give in to your every want. And nobody's addressed the fact that Chicago is the Big 10 alum capital of the world. There are probably without exaggeration 10 times as many alums in Chicago than there are in Indy.
  13. You're from Bloomington and are an IU fan. You don't think your opinion is skewed by the fact that the tourney is in Indy? I admit I'm biased because I'm from Chicago. What are you basing it off of that coaches, journalists, and fans like it better in Indy? I'll defer to your knowledge on Indy nightlife. The talk on IB is the people from Indiana defending it saying that bars stay open til midnight or even 1. The Conseco area is no doubt safer than the area around the UC, but the UC isn't exactly the ghetto. Indy being a cheaper city is part of the problem. Chicago has 4-5 times as many people and is THE alumni base of the Big Ten. It has far more big money types that will sell this out every year. The economy takes a hit like this year, and Indy can't sell out. You think Chicago would have a hard time selling out the BTT? The super bowl was held there because it was a giant dome. The Tournaments are held there because it's the home of the NCAA. And as you said they share both honors with Detroit. It just seems utterly foolish and small-time to have the 3rd biggest market in the county at the center of your conference, with by far the biggest alumni base(I believe the biggest for all schools except for PSU) right there and instead you choose for the Indianapolis Convention Center of Indiana.
  14. The entire city shuts down at midnight, and it's 4-5 times smaller than Chicago. Being able to walk to a bar rather(and party for a full hour after the late game!) than take a 5 minute cab ride doesn't make it a better locale. They can't even sell it out this year.
  15. That was SEC. I thought the ACC was moving it to Atlanta, but I'm probably wrong.
  16. Either I'm missing something, or you don't know how a Ponzi scheme works.
  17. Which is a joke. You should have the tourney in the marquee city of your area. Big East has it in NY, Pac 10 has it in LA, ACC in ATL, we have it in [expletive] Indianapolis because they named a street after each team. We're operating like we're the Missouri Valley.
  18. Aaron Miles 2/5 Mark DeRosa traded to Cleveland is the biggest Cubs blunder this offseason (even bigger than letting Wood walk), and is probably one of the 5 dumbest moves this offseason. Fontenot could do a similar job starting for a fraction of the cost. Fontenot can't play right field when Bradley is hurt. AARON MILES CAN!!!
  19. Only if you're the 6 seed. Iowa's 101 in the RPI, that wouldn't hurt you to beat them. And Michigan probably has to win out to get the 6.
  20. It's hard to take a guy with that voice seriously. He had polyps on his vocal chords as a kid.
  21. Bruce Weber tells the haters to STFU
  22. No technically about it, we'll be up half a game on Purdue.
  23. Michigan's playing these last 4 minutes like they're coached by Chris Webber.
  24. According to Loren Tate as mentioned on IlliniBoard, Minnesota went 2-41 on jump shots.
