  1. On one end, of the spectrum, you'll definitely win more than 5 games. Indiana was 5 D-1 games this year with absolutely nothing. On the other end, there's no way you contend for an NCAA berth in '10-'11. The Big Ten is looking way too strong, and at best Iowa will have some good, not great freshmen to lead them.
  2. At this point he's probably going to stick around. He still has lots of time left on his contract and I can't see the University wanting to pay him especially because I think we are still paying Alford. If we hire another coach we would be paying 3 guys for a garbage program. I'm not to keen on the financial stuff though so I might be way off. Oh, I'm sure he survives to coach next season, I just don't know if he can survive a last place finish next year(which looks really likely if all these transfers/bootings take place. And I'm way more down on IU than most.)
  3. I hate everyone who voted Reds.
  4. Yeah, I don't really understand wanting to dump Gaudin for nothing either. I don't see how Patton is a better bet to produce than Gaudin. If it was a matter of whether to pay Gaudin ~$3 million or Patton the minimum, then I could see the argument, but we're paying Gaudin either way, so I don't see the problem with keeping him. I wouldn't mind it, however, if Hendry could work out some kind trade to keep Patton. Not giving up too much, but Patton seems to have potential. Is everybody willing to throw Gaudin away for nothing or wanting to dump him for nothing? I feel like I missed something. How we gonna get anything for an alcoholic whose pitching skills are a dime a dozen?
  5. How's Lickliter's seat?
  6. Planning on the Randy Johnson heart attack? Every guy that gets to 300 wins is considered the last one ever. 300 game winners aren't any more rare now than they were ever.
  7. Gaudin's performance has been very inconsistent. I don't have love for Patton, I dislike veteran relievers assured of spots despite horrible performances because of contract situations. You're acting like the guy couldn't go into an important game cause he was still throwing up from the night before.
  8. And what's the deal with Daniel Moskos?
  9. Maybe with the numbers crunch in the bullpen we can send Vizcaino to Colorado and pay his salary, and not get anything back.
  10. Yeah, I don't understand everyone's willingness to throw Gaudin away. Vizcaino, fine, he's old and not that good. I'm not throwing away Chad Gaudin so Patton can suck for a month and get returned to the Rockies.
  11. Bathroom reading. http://www.ratemyeverything.net/image/2239/0/Laptop_%2B_Bathroom_%3D_workaholic.ashx Well yeah, but I have too much class to do that when other people are around. Not that I've ever bought a media guide, but I would.
  12. Why?? He must be getting some ridiculous cash.
  13. Bathroom reading.
  14. Wait what? How do I KNOW Tom Glavine is a hall of famer?
  15. An extra 1150 innings is really valuable. an extra 1150 innings where he wasnt as good as schilling Neither was Schilling. Cause he didn't pitch them.
  16. why? Because he gets on base 50 pts higher & scores more runs than Soriano? The main measure of a leadoff hitter is runs scored. With 76 last year, he was near the bottom in MLB in runs scored for leadoff hitters. Why? Because he does not have a leadoff mentality at the plate. He has more of an rbi producing mentality. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  17. Releasing Gooz to make room for any one of Hart, Fox, or Vizcaino would be awful enough.
  18. An extra 1150 innings is really valuable.
  19. Seriously, now you're going to argue that Cedeno wasn't rushed? Cedeno earned one promotion in his career(rookie ball to A ball at the age of 18, and even that, A- seems more appropriate) before the big league call up. He was twice promoted with OPSs hovering around 550. And then after never coming close to the level before in his career, you feel he mastered AAA with his 245 ABs there in '05. You think those 245 ABs in '05 were more indicative of the fact that he was ready than near 1500 he had before that of awful performance? Ronny was rushed through the system because the Cubs are a bunch of tools goofs. Then when Ronny started putting his tools to use, they rushed him faster and never bothered to teach anything. Combine it with the drooling buffoons coaching the Cubs during Ronny's '06, and what do you expect. You're going to write him off over that?
  20. I'm trying to stick to position players here so Truffle doesn't wind up with a loophole, and cause saying Maddux and Halladay isn't enough of a challenge. So we've got Carl Crawford Brandon Phillips Jose Reyes Jhonny Peralta BJ Upton Jose Lopez That's from an absurdly small sample of looking at the 10 youngest in each league over the past 8 years(which essentially doesn't count the last few years because I could point out that Truffle would give up on Daric Barton and Alex Gordon, but they haven't put up Ryan Theriot like #s yet, so I wouldn't really be proving him wrong)

  22. And the spawn of satan isn't going to be dropping cash to make anything change about the Marlins front office strategy.
  23. A stadium that hosted what, a half dozen college games per year? A new baseball stadium is a different animal, hosting 81 gamers per year, many during the night. It will change the neighborhood in some way shape or form. Not if nobody cares about the team.
  24. We never even let him pitch did we?
