  1. As long as you are cool with it, I guess we can agree. You've gotta be kidding me. 1 beer on a 6'3, 205 frame doesn't impair anything.
  2. I never said the Cardinals had a poor season.
  3. I think Angel Salome has lost a little luster, but he's still a nice prospect. I like him a hell of a lot more than I like Escobar.
  4. Yeah, 6th best record in the NL is a banner [expletive] season.
  5. Yeah and they lost Carpenter for the entire season and still almost matched that projection. Wahetever though, it's not really worth arguing if you're just going to pretend like they haven't been competitive. You're pretending a 78 win team was competitive. You're pretending a team that was never better than 10 to 1 shot in the last month of the season was competitive.
  6. I dunno, something about beating a woman.
  7. PECOTA had them at 81-81. Try as I might there's not a single projection/prediction putting them below 78 wins.
  8. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview07/team?team=stl ESPN picks for the Cards in '07. THE HORROR Vegas had them at 84.5 wins.
  9. According to coolstandings.com, the Cardinals peaked at just under 10% for their playoff chances during the month of September. They were better than 50% for maybe 3 or 4 days all last season(in June)
  10. Yeah, you'd have to go all the way back to 2007 to find them performing worse than expected, and didn't compete. Course, they didn't really compete last year either, but it's unlikely you'll admit that. Come on. Compared to expectations? The Cards were a surprise for most of the year last year. Sure they faded late, but they were supposed to fade early. I think LaRussa's done a nice job with what he's had to work with. I said they didn't compete last year, not that they didn't outperform expectations. I seriously want to know what it was the Cardinals "competed for" last year. And who in the hell thought the Cardinals were going to be pretty bad in '07?

  12. Word is this guy had a suspended license.
  13. Classic. I'm not sure giving the Cardinals a healthy Soto makes them the best team in the division.
  14. Yes. Much, much worse. do people forget that he was pretty good in his time spent here? barrett that is. .287, 16, 65 in '04, .276, 16, 61 in '05, .307, 16, 53 in '06 defensive wise, he was bad but he was pretty decent offensively. Pretty sure the previous poster was talking from a defensive perspective. I need no lecture on Barrett's awesomeness.
  15. I dunno, how often should you expect a random sampling of 750 healthy, in shape 20-40 year olds to die during a 6 month period?
  16. No they won't. Half their lineup doesn't belong in the majors.
  17. Who isn't? Big Ten schools. The conference only allows them to over-sign by 1.
  18. Blackhawks. It's only a few more weeks. Is there some problem with CSN+? Is it not HD? CSN+ makes no difference to me. It's still HD and better than WGN since directv doesn't get the HD version of WGN. CSN+ is that weird Mojo channel for Comcast customers in Chicago, right? CLTV
  19. There's been big problems with the streaming since Opening Day. I think it's slowly been getting better, but I'd wait a week or so to see if the stuttering and freezing goes away. If you have a strong connection, premium is worth the extra $30, the picture is incredible, you know, when it's actually moving. These issues supposedly come up every year at the beginning of the year. It'll get fixed.
  20. And Daniel Orton asking out of UK. W00t. Scout.com's story listed Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, USC ( :-s ), UCLA ( :-s ), Kansas and Memphis as possibilities. Orton supposedly loves KU and Manning. And Manning is very high on him. But I have no idea where he would fit in. We have about 42 big men, we're already over the limit on schollies I think. And if he get X, that would take us out of the running. Still, the Scout national recruiting guru has indicated KU is interested. If you're over the limit on schollies how are you fitting Henry in?
  21. That's Jeff Loria's personal motto.
  22. As far as must sees in the stadium, there's not really much to speak of. Wrigley is no frills, and the sites to see are the ones that are part of the stadium(ivy, scoreboard, rooftops, etc.) For outside the stadium stuff, it depends if you want to go to a stereotypical Wrigley bar(Murphy's, Haray Caray's, , or if you'd rather have a little breathing room and relax a bit.
  23. 500 is not the upper deck box, it's the top half of the upper deck. They're still really good seats though, Wrigley upper deck is closer to the field than most ballparks. 1st row in the top half will have no obstruction. The benefit of sitting in that section is you get way less douchebags than you would in the bleachers.
  24. I believe it's just rumor, but Henry's dad turned down Memphis.
