  1. Maybe Lou murdered Aaron Miles. That would be creative.
  2. I used R/G because the issue people keep bringing up is bat speed. Bat speed helps you get all kinds of hits in addition to drawing walks.
  3. I want to repost O_O's link here so people will make sure to look at it. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/bat.shtml Look at the Runs/Game totals. Check out when the jump in runs/game happened. It was '93 to '94. Look at those roided up juicer years of 2001, '02, and '03. Don't get me started on the juicers of the 1930s, may they be burning in hell.
  4. Yet its strange that HR numbers went down sharply when they started to test for steroids. Only not. The new policy was handed down in 2005, but the differences in the home run rates pre-2005 and post-2005 are not particularly telling of anything, especially if you think of steroids as having flourished in baseball starting in the mid-90s. To say the numbers have gone down sharply is incorrect. Yeah I couldn't find the stats before I posted that. What has gone down though is the number of HRs the top HR hitters are hitting. Hitting 40 HRs was almost a prerequesite to be called a power hitter a few years back. Now you might win a HR title with 40 HRs. That's happened once(Last year - Cabrera. Meanwhile the HR leaders hit 58 and 54 in '06 while testing was in place.)
  5. Regarding Bradley being a clubhouse problem, his Rangers teammates adored him last year.
  6. 20-28 in appearances. 18-21 in starts.
  7. You're right.....it just so happened that a record that stood for 30+ years just happened to be obliterated by three players that were all on steroids. And in your mind an equal factor would be smaller stadiums, smaller strike zones, poor pitchers and juiced balls? If you want to ignore the obvious, be my guest. You want to ignore that Hank Aaron was a dirty cheater, let him ignore what he wants.
  8. Haha, what? Haven't they won a couple in a row? The makings of a hot streak. They aren't great teams but they do get hot and cold like everyone else. Except for us presumably. Heading into today Milwaukee had won 2 in a row, STL 1, Cubs 1. Last 10: MIL: 4-6, STL: 4-6, CHC: 5-5 Last 20: MIL: 9-11, STL: 9-11, CHC: 9-11
  9. So which of red bull or coffee are banned by MLB or illegal by federal law? Of course whatever Sosa tested positive for hasn't been released yet either... True... and I do wonder if it could simply be amphetamines. Sosa was actually linked to those in the past. Did the article say he tested positive for steroids, or a PED? 99% sure they didn't test for amphetamines in '03.
  10. So which of red bull or coffee are banned by MLB or illegal by federal law? Of course whatever Sosa tested positive for hasn't been released yet either...
  11. That Monsters has gone away and sportsrise has returned? Luke Stuckmeyer is big time.
  12. The Big Ten won't add a 12th team until Notre Dame accepts. If Notre Dame never accepts, the Big 10 will stay where they are.
  13. Assuming you're talking about any PEDs(including those not tested for, i.e. HGH, undetectable steroids) then I see no reason to not believe it's significantly higher. That's without getting into PEDs that people don't care about(greenies, cocaine, whatever)
  14. I'd change it to Bonds and Clemens.
  15. I'd guess these players naively believed that the results would actually stay anonymous so they didn't care about cycling off.
  16. GR, you don't think team trainers knew guys were injecting? Did they have to personally stick the needle in you in order to make it acceptable?
  17. Because Roger Maris maybe didn't cheat.
  18. I'm far less bothered by greenies than the cream and the clear. That's your call, but a PED is a PED is a PED. I'm not going to give some guys a pass because their's wasn't as effective. I don't view it that way. An upper doesn't come close to the mad science experiments of latter-day roids, IMO. Cheating's ok as long as it only helps you play a certain % better. (% to be determined based on who used what when I was growing up back when everything was pure)
  19. In case nobody's noticed Acta (last I checked) still isn't fired. This is ridiculous what they're doing to the guy.
