  1. Probably around the the 20 range for me. His lack of any impact potential keeps him down, but he does have to be given credit for being close to the bigs and performing well as an age appropriate SP. He's a slightly better Casey Coleman for me.
  2. Yeah, we can pretty clearly put those "Ben Revere type power" claims to rest. As long as he can make adequate contact, he's going to be a player.
  3. 1-2-3 5th inning with 2 more k's and a groundout.
  4. I hope it doesn't kill off Velázquez and Estrada as well. That's a big chunk of draft talent. Velazquez has already signed so they made that work without Lange. Can't see Estrada coming without Lange's money, but I agree with KingCubsFan on taking the comp pick. With pitchers' health already so iffy, I'd rather start from scratch with a first rounder next year than take damaged goods this year just to try to sign Estrada. Been busy all day and missed this. I 100% agree with walking away entirely if Lange's medicals weren't terrific. Estrada is a nice talent to add to the system, but as you said, he's not worth taking damaged goods 30th overall. Hell, many scouts think Lange is a reliever anyway and then you want to throw less than ideal medicals on top of it? That whole situation sucks.
  5. He pulled a Jake Opitz! (That's a name I haven't heard in a long time. A long time.) Edit: After checking, it wasn't even an Opitz. Opitz homered once in each of his first 2 pro games. Upshaw outdid him.
  6. The call was correct. The rule in that situation is what is tough. I'm not complaining though, as that absolutely killed LSU's momentum and kept Lange from making another amateur appearance. I would have rather the Gators not won, but I'll take it.
  7. Gators are trotting out a Frosh reliever tonight. This series is going to 3 and Lange will get to be abused one last time. Awesome.
  8. Badler's top 50 IFA list came out this morning. Serrano is at 29 and Verdugo is at 47. http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/2017-top-50-international-prospects-july-2/#aVTxuSleDWJozhhc.97
  9. And let's not act as though he would care about a pitch count for Lange in the deciding game of the CWS. If he's pitching well in the 7th but is at 110 pitches and only has a 1 run lead, he's staying in there. I am hoping for an LSU sweep so Lange doesn't pitch and so UF loses.
  10. What the hell? So essentially the Cubs liked Abbot more than absolutely everyone. That's a headscratcher. Also, have I mentioned how much I horsefeathering hate having college draft picks still in the CWS? Mainieri inexcusably had Lange throw 115 pitches today. He was at exactly 100 pitches through 6 innings. He put him out there again for the 7th, in which he threw another 13 pitches, and then had him face the first batter of the 8th. This was simply absurd. Lange was 90-93 (mostly 91) again. His curve is pretty damn great when he's commanding it. However, he lost all command of it in the 3rd inning and ended up walking in a run. Still ended up with 8 K's in the 7.1 IP against one of the best college teams we've seen in a decade. I'm not sure I could even classify the few changeups I saw today as "show me", though. They were pretty bad.
  11. Slot value is good news, IMO. Boras always scares me a bit, even with Thompson's injury history.
  12. Andrew Karp was really good yesterday against a strong LSU team in the CWS. FSU lost, but certainly not because of Karp. 5.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 Ks. - 81 pitches (55 strikes), 7-1 GO/AO ratio He came on in relief of Cole Sands, who laid an egg. The path still isn't clear for him to get a weekend rotation spot at FSU next year, so there is a small glimmer of hope that he could be signed. The 2 more years of eligibility make it tough, though.
  13. Nice. $173,300 savings. $291,965 with 5% overage. I really don't like Carlson's delivery. You could pound a nail with his head whack.
  14. Estrada should be around the Heatherly range, if not a little lower. Heatherly was more highly touted than Estrada by pretty much everyone.
  15. Here's hoping he develops a stomach bug tonight and can't pitch over the weekend, and that LSU loses out. I HATE that drafted players are still potentially subject to the whims of a college coach.
  16. Amaya is now 2/2 throwing out base runners. And he's 1-2 at the dish. 3-3 now. This is really fun.
  17. Amaya already 1-1 in CS. Assad with 2 Ks to starte the game. Good start.
  18. Karp will have 2 years of eligibility remaining, due to a car wreck his Freshman year. Could be a tougher sign, although he won't have a rotation spot next year for FSU either. I would put a decent amount of money on Vazquez signing. He doesn't have a college commitment and he's from Puerto Rico. But yeah, any prep player taken after round 20 is not a good bet to sign.
  19. I can find nothing online about 14th rounder Luis Vazquez, other than he's from Puerto Rico, and somebody made a terrible video of him working out.
  20. Pretty surprised that Kwang-Min Kwon made the Eugene roster. AZPhil made is sound like he's not ready for SS ball.
  21. Rollie Lacy, RHP - Creighton - Stop me if you've heard this, but he has Cape Cod experience.
  22. That's what I figured. Can't imagine Estrada getting anywhere near that. I'd honestly be surprised if he even took the $1.5 million that Cease got.
  23. Well that's a boner-killing series of tweets. That's a waste of about $235K in the bonus pools if he doesn't sign. This FO is just so good at manipulating numbers though, that you have to believe they knew what they were doing.
  24. Wow. Did not think Estrada was at all signable. They obviously felt good about it if he's being taken in the 6th.
