  1. Kevin Parada, the other well-regarded hitter available who the Cubs passed on, was ranked 50. Neto, Collier, Cross, and maybe Parada will all be interesting to follow because I could have been good with them. I'm not sure Lee was worth the risk with medicals. Wanted no part of Neto. Would have loved Lee/Collier/Parada. Cross I could have lived with. I suppose that's a fair concern about Lee, if the doctors looked at his medicals and thought the knee/hamstring would be a problem again somewhere down the line. Pretty weird injury he had. Didn't affect him at Cal Poly, but you definitely want the doctors to sign off there. Assuming the medicals weren't horrific, I would sprinted to the podium to take Lee. Of course, then the Cubs took Horton who just had TJS. Sigh. Yes, it was. Ended up giving Ferris over $3 million with the underslot savings from Horton. Both guys are certainly interesting arms.

  3. Rojas was a legit guy. I think he got a million.
  4. A’s throwing all 2022 draftees so far in the ACL game. No pitching 2022 draftees have debuted yet for the Cubs, which is pretty much the entire draft. I looked at 2021, and neither Wicks nor Gray debuted until early September.
  5. Is tonight the night we get a 2022 draftee debut in the ACL?
  6. Brown out after 5. 5IP, 4 H (2 IF hits), 1 R, 2 BB, 9 Ks.
  7. Ben Brown about to make his system and AA debut.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet] I had not realized his K rate was so low during this stretch.
  9. Gonna be fun having our own Pablo Sandoval for awhile.
  10. He’s a Cubs fan. Wes (or Yagyu for those who came over from PSD) has been doing the Lord’s work on Cubs draft signing info for a long time. He started way before the slot assignments and bonus pools. Back when you legitimately had no idea if a prep player taken in the 3rd round was going to sign.
  11. He’s already resumed throwing off flat ground. Wouldn’t be at all shocked if he gets some pitching in at fall instructs in 3-4 months
  12. The last pick, JuCo product Ke'Shun Collier, looks a hell of a lot like Juan Pierre in his video. Slapping the ball in play and then using great speed.
  13. Annoying that Roederer is injured again. Guy just can't stay healthy.
  14. At this point, it's best to forget that Marquez is a thing. Take the Angel Guzman approach, and if he ends up being a really good reliever for a few years, you count that a win.
  15. https://sports.yahoo.com/passaic-tech-baseball-star-nazier-184933597.html I'm assuming his name is pronounced mu-LAY? That's correct.
  16. Excellent. Let him start every day at 1B at the expense of Jared Young and Nelson Maldonado. Those 2 have been pretty terrible since mid-April. I'm over Rivas as well, if he gets demoted again. Mervis deserves some run.
  17. I believe the Cubs just drafted Mark McGwire's son. That feels gross.
  18. Cubs will have roughly $500K to play with in overages before any penalties, so that certainly counts. 7th rounder, Nick Hull, is the first big money saving senior sign. Wouldn't shock me to see at least 2 more in rounds 8-10.
  19. Yep, the first senior sign. Although Birdsell is probably a guy that gets slot money. He's actually a legit prospect that only fell due to injury concerns.
  20. The Mule pick is a fun one. I'm guessing the senior signs are gonna start coming in shortly.
  21. I would have much rather had Ben Joyce I’m not very interested in a once-a-week 1-inning relief pitcher until after the 5th round. Certainly not interested after Carraway and even Crochet. Same. Cubs have dipped into the "best RP in the draft" pool before and it hasn't ended well. Honestly, it rarely ever ends up well for anyone. Let someone else take those guys in the first 4 rounds. I know very little about Paciolla, but the few blurbs I just read make him sound a lot like Triantos. Edit: The BA write-up Raisin posted makes him sound absolutely nothing like Traintos. Apparently scouts really are in disagreement on him.
  22. I wouldn’t be upset if Gavin Turley was picked by the Cubs today.
