  1. Nice! So Kilian/Jensen/Thompson/Sampson in the rotation. Who's the 5th starter there to begin the year. I'm sure I'm forgetting some veteran JAG that they picked up this offseason for depth.
  2. It's certainly possible, but it doesn't happen often enough to consider it a legit outcome at this point. This is especially true for a 25 year old like Strumpf. Even further, the biggest success stories (Judge/Springer/etc) all had prodigious power to fall back on. He doesn't have that. I actually should have bumped that back to my top 40 for Strumpf. He's org filler for me.
  3. Same. Strumpf isn't anywhere near a top 20 prospect in this system for me. He hasn't made contact even going back to his UCLA days. Not enough power or defense to overcome it.
  4. Zero issues with Amaya starting at Tennessee. Ease him back into the game a bit.
  5. Lamar just needs to bite the bullet and get an agent. Dude is shooting himself in the foot.
  6. Happ gets dealt in July, and a healthy and mashing Brennen Davis gets brought up. Shows extremely well in his couple months and signs one of those extensions that the Braves keep tricking their young players into.
  7. Yeah, I can't wait to see if Wicks added some velo or if the new slider actually does take off with him. I stay optimistic, but I'm probably the low guy on these boards when it comes to Wicks.
  8. - Ben Brown passes Horton/Wicks as top SP in the system by July. - Mason McGwire has a better year than Jackson Ferris - Caissie mashes at AA, but still spends the vast majority of the year there. - Ballesteros is a top 10 prospect by the end of the year.
  9. Dammit. These injuries are starting to pile up.
  10. Oof. No thanks. Lowder isn’t my favorite profile either, but the Cubs picking him wouldn’t be a surprise. Wish Nimmala was more of a candidate to be available at 13. I’d be shocked to see him reach pick 14. Oh, I absolutely agree on both counts. Lowder is very Wicks-esque to me, but from the right side. And Nimmala is the guy I am setting myself up for disappointment with. I do it every year.
  11. It would have been nice to see Mule in games before he went under the knife, but yeah, the chances were extremely high that he would need TJS at some point early on. Prep arms reaching 100 mph have not done well in avoiding TJS.
  12. McGonigle 14, Morales 18, Eldridge 21, Nimmala 23. Oof. No thanks.
  13. Same. I'm more open to them going after impact, regardless of risk, than I have been in years past.
  14. Looks like they are still babying him. Probably a wise choice, given that injury.
  15. No way to know what the agreed upon terms were. But given that they've been on this kid for 2 years already, they aren't going to risk not being able to meet the agreed upon price. Pretty likely that he agreed to a deal around $4 million.
  16. Kevin Parada, the other well-regarded hitter available who the Cubs passed on, was ranked 50. Neto, Collier, Cross, and maybe Parada will all be interesting to follow because I could have been good with them. I'm not sure Lee was worth the risk with medicals. Wanted no part of Neto. Would have loved Lee/Collier/Parada. Cross I could have lived with. I suppose that's a fair concern about Lee, if the doctors looked at his medicals and thought the knee/hamstring would be a problem again somewhere down the line. Pretty weird injury he had. Didn't affect him at Cal Poly, but you definitely want the doctors to sign off there. Assuming the medicals weren't horrific, I would sprinted to the podium to take Lee. Of course, then the Cubs took Horton who just had TJS. Sigh. Yes, it was. Ended up giving Ferris over $3 million with the underslot savings from Horton. Both guys are certainly interesting arms.
  17. Kevin Parada, the other well-regarded hitter available who the Cubs passed on, was ranked 50.
  18. Rojas was a legit guy. I think he got a million.
  19. A’s throwing all 2022 draftees so far in the ACL game. No pitching 2022 draftees have debuted yet for the Cubs, which is pretty much the entire draft. I looked at 2021, and neither Wicks nor Gray debuted until early September.
  20. Is tonight the night we get a 2022 draftee debut in the ACL?
  21. Brown out after 5. 5IP, 4 H (2 IF hits), 1 R, 2 BB, 9 Ks.
  22. Ben Brown about to make his system and AA debut.
  23. [tweet] [/tweet] I had not realized his K rate was so low during this stretch.
