  1. Lots of money compared to slot. A Billy Swoope endorsement. And some ungodly high school stats. Leads to high expectations. The elite prep hitters always have video game numbers as Seniors, but I honestly don't remember seeing a player strike out 0 times the entire season before. I'm sure it's happened, but I cannot remember it.
  2. Caissie's 10-game OBP is .587. 14 walks in ten games helps. So does a BABIP over .550! Fun with small samples. But sure is fun to have somebody getting off to a blazing start. And a bunch of his K's seem to be of the looking variety. I'm a broken record at this point, but I can't be any more pissed off at the cheap ass owners and their decision to do away with SS A ball.
  3. It would be great if the ailing pitchers started trickling back into the system this month.
  4. Caissie reached base 6 times yesterday. Given that this is just a continuation of his offensive onslaught from EXST, he probably isn’t going to be in Mesa much longer.
  5. Christian Olivo took an international flight yesterday and toured the facility in Mesa this morning. He'll sign shortly. If it isn't our good friend, Yags!
  6. Getting to see a couple of these guys in the 2nd half is definitely a silver lining in the inevitable sell-off of the entire big league bullpen.
  7. So I’m a long time follower of Cub’s drafts because let’s face it, hope for the future defines Cub fandom. I can remember drafts with Oscar Gamble, Peter LaCock, etc. But a couple questions on this discussion. Is Triantos really that much of an overslot pick? He appears to have been chosen about where he was ranked by most experts. Would he have reclassified from 2022 to 2021 if he wasn’t serious about playing professionally and soon. If he doesn’t reclassify he’s still going to be eligible to get drafted at age 21 after two years at UNC. Isn’t Glenn Cunningham an ideal candidate to sign? He’s committed to the University of Chicago and if you look at their conference it’s not a who’s who of college baseball. If the Cubs can offer college scholarship money is there a reason not to take it and play baseball at a level that affords him a decent opportunity at being a professional? Not that logic always plays. Christian Olivo from PR is going the JUCOs route. I don’t see him foregoing a little extra bonus He may be. He was a bit of a late riser due to the reclassification, and there was talk of him sneaking in at the end of the 1st round. But we'll find out soon enough. Obviously we all hope he isn't.
  8. I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if Triantos eats almost all of that up and takes $2 million.
  9. horsefeathering Pirates. They are destroying this draft so far.
  10. Happy Cristian Hernandez Debut Day, everyone!
  11. And/or confident in their ability to teach and improve curves. Gonna have to dig some more to find out if it was the mediocre heater or the mediocre breaking stuff that resulted in all the hard contact. 9 HRs allowed this year and an ERA of 3.71.
  12. Part of me wonders if this pick was made with the knowledge that the pitch lab could likely add some velo, as it has for so many the past year. I’d like it a lot more if they felt confident there. I wanted to avoid the 2nd tier of college SPs altogether.
  13. Just pass on Fabian. Don’t love Wicks either, but he’s better than Fabian
  14. Whoa. Didn’t see Bachman going before Rocker.
  15. There are still far too many mentions of Jud Fabian for my liking.
  16. 3 straight games with no Caissie. Hopefully nothing major is keeping him out.
  17. I’m loving all the prep hitter chatter. Please avoid that 2nd tier of college pitchers in the 1st. They have not treated the Cubs kindly.
  18. That Chalmers pitch was absolutely filthy. I can’t believe the number of legit looking RPs this org is starting to produce.
  19. Such an impressive start. Kid has only been 18 for a month and he's doing everything you could want and more in his stateside debut.
  20. That read was worth it, if only for all the injury updates. Only an oblique for Franklin, thankfully. Not as good of updates for others though, even if no surgery at this time.
  21. Who knows if they are keeping any sort of regular pitching schedule in the ACL, but I believe Tyler Schlaffer would be due up again tonight.
  22. I don't know if I can trust these Malcolm/Ronnier box scores. That would be the safe way to approach it, for sure. I haven't checked TCR for awhile. I wonder if someone has asked AZ Phil about this.
