    The FCL (Florida Complex League) has box scores up after the games, so I’m hopeful we get them for the ACL.

    ACL starts in two days With all the shiny new toys from the Darvish trade, Morel has kind of been an afterthought. Nice to see him remind us all that he also can impact a game with his bat.

    With Nance turning back into a pumpkin without the sticky stuff, Leeper should be getting a shot sometime soon.

    Gross to both Fabian and McGreevy being linked to the Cubs in multiple places. Not a fan of either.

    Schalffer's final line: Of all the years to get rid of SS A ball, the year immediately after a complete shutdown of minor league baseball probably wasn't the best one. At least for the prep draft picks from 2020, as well as some of the teenage IFAs. I don't know if Caissie is ready for full season A ball (especially with the older than usual pitching staffs there this year), but it sure looks like he needs to be challenged more than he will be in the ACL. Eugene would have been perfect.

    Holy crap, you're right. June completely got away from me. I think I can handle another week. Speaking of 2020 draftees, is Howard hurt again? Given that they brought Santana back up, it makes you wonder.

    Caissie with 2 bombs today down in Mesa, per AZPhil. My body is ready for the ACL to begin.

    Offense is down league-wide, but the really good prospects are still hitting.

    Will Bednar with an eye-opening performance last night. 15 Ks in only 6 innings against #2 ranked Texas. Have to think he's in the mix at 21 if they decide to go collegiate arm. Fits their prior philosophy a little bit as well, as I seem to recall reading somewhere that Bednar is a Rapsodo giant.

    Aliendo is a lot more athletic looking than I was anticipating. He's one of the few pleasant offensive surprises so far. And you can add Carraway to the disappointing duo of Howard/Nwogu as well. The early returns on the small 2020 draft class are extremely uninspiring. If Little and Moreno wanted to tear up Mesa, that'd be great.

    Can't wait for the first-hand reports of him in game action. Probably from the DSL, but that's perfectly fine.

    It's more to do with the fact that the list of above average big leaguers that completely fell on their face in A ball, regardless of age, is incredibly small. Lumps are VERY rarely taken at the lowest full season level by guys that end up as solid contributors; and I honestly can't remember a guy that panned out that has started as badly as Howard has in Low A ball. He's putting the term "taking lumps" to a whole different level so far. But you're right that the Covid stuff really did throw a big wrench in what we can/should be expecting right now. It's a very legit point that there are older pitchers in the low minors this year that normally wouldn't be there. Just have to hope that this variable is big enough to overlook all the historical examples not in Howard's favor right now.

    I'm just not keen on Fabian and his numerous strikeouts. I'm 100% with you. I would pass on Fabian. I'm actually warming up a bit to Trey Sweeney at 21, depending on who is still on the board.

    And struck out both ABs. This MFer needs to go back to Mesa. He’s horribly overmatched in A ball right now. Once they made the decision to keep him at Myrtle Beach, I'd stick with him a bit more than 4 ABs since he's coming off a missed month. It’s just an extension of how poorly he’s been before the injury. There’s a young player taking his lumps and learning, and then there is a young player striking out 50% of the time and being the worst hitter in the respective league. Howard is absolutely the latter. But I suppose the possibility does exist that a demotion at this point could hurt Howard mentally more than just continuing to get eaten alive by A ball pitching. Definitely have to trust the FO on that one. It really hurts not having SS ball anymore.

    and fluff: I need to look into the prep pitchers a lot more than I have thus far. This regime has avoided prep arms in the 1st round, so I guess it has led to me not paying much attention to the top 50 prep pitcher types this year. The little I just read/watched about Hartle looks solid though.

    Yet another 2B for Caissie. Probably should ask AZPhil if these are legit doubles or the "taking advantage of poor fielding low minor leaguers" variety.

    Holy crap. The Monsoon Game last time out really bloated Herz's ERA.

    Caissie isn't wasting any time with 3 2Bs in the only 2 games we have box scores for. Given how mediocre or bad the other bats in the system have been so far this year, the ACL bats will be a very welcome sight once their season begins.

    I figure there’ll be a few more navigating to Arizona. Hopefully Cristian is one of them. I would have been pretty disappointed if Quintero wasn't in the ACL. I share the hope of Hernandez starting there, but given his age and all the Covid fallout, I can understand if they keep him in the DSL.
