  1. Trade possibilities like these are why I am glad I don't have any strong connection to any of our young boys besides Castro. Jimbo is going to trade them away.
  2. I miss Ted Lilly's doo doo plopped backside.
  3. There is no way Demp is overpaid because he trains like the white Michael Jordan.
  4. Just waking up and taking all of this new non-information in on Mr. Webb and others. Blah, I am nervous now if we don't just sign Webb. I really don't want Hendry to give up some choice cuts for a starter in a trade.
  5. Yep, you got that right. If this deal actually goes through, they could make a lot of noise next season. Man, I really hope we sign Webb soon.
  6. NatsNewsNetwork RT @BerniesCrew: Source tells me #Brewers have traded SS Alcides Escobar, CF Lorenzo Cain, and RHP Jeremy Jeffress for RHP Zack Greinke, SS Betancourt + $2M.
  7. Apparently Greinke is going to the Brewers, for what looks like a small package. Curious. No one major has reported it yet, but it is all over twitter.
  8. What kind of a super hero are you? You can't ignore the symbol!!
  9. I don't. He probably shouldn't get anymore than $500,000 for pitching services, and $1m for being a fan favorite. Interesting view of market forces and net worth you have there.
  10. If that is the total, I actually feel a little bad for Kerry. He should have at least received a 3 million contract in light of the Bobby Jenks signing with the Red Sox. However, I am actually quite glad Wood is back in Cub Blue.
  11. Cubs v. Red Sox Those Phillies got nothing on us! To Infinity and Beyond!!!!
  12. Man, I just teared up like a little girl watching the Pat Hughes eulogy. Very eloquent and touching.
  13. Very awesome tribute to Ron. I wonder when they are going to scatter the ashes?
  14. I am trying to withhold judgement on this possible trade, but it is difficult. Tampa is hard to trade with, so I hope there isn't a ton of regret on who is shipped out of the Cubs system.
  15. Dammit, I thought this was already a go. Looked badass too. http://media.tbo.com/photos/trib/2008/may/0514stadium425.jpg Looks like enough seating for about 5,000. Just right. :D Is there a giant mosquito net over that stadium? That stadium did look pretty righteous. I saw some interview with Friedman at the beginning of last season saying that St. Petersburg will be unable to sustain the Rays. They are moving, but to where is anyones guess at this point. I am thinking Orlando, but hoping for Vegas!
  16. The Rays are likely to have have 8 of the first 100 picks in next year's draft. I think their management knows what it's doing. I would have to say they dropped the ball this past season by only adding Chad Qualls at the deadline. Maybe if people like you would go to the games, they could afford more than Chad Qualls. What did you want them to add? I thought a bat would have been advantageous. More people like me? You mean locals that aren't fans? I go to a handful of games every season, but their stadium is a terribly depressing place to see a game.
  17. For the reasons TT outlined, now would be a good time to trade Lee but you have to think there is better value at a position of need than Matt Garza. Kevin Slowey is available, but he's worse than Garza... but there were some rumblings that some teams also called on the Twins for Francisco Liriano and the word was they don't have a reason to move him (which is true), but I wonder if they are open to the idea. Anyone who has dealt with me in Fantasy Baseball knows I value Liriano more than any other player in baseball so I'm a bit biased, but if he could be had I'd try and see what it would take to pry him away slightly off topic, but i would like to get into a fantasy baseball league with you that involves money. It's not like I draft him in the first round you presumptuous dolt. That being said it's not hard to defeat me in fantasy baseball. I tend to put too much faith in young, unproven players in hopes that they have break out seasons. I thought I was the only one.
  18. Has it been agreed upon that Colvin's new nickname is T-Spike?
  19. Other than the fact that they've turned into more annoying versions of Yankees fans, why do you say that? They should be right back in there in 2012. mmmm...this is the Red Sox and their fans we are talking about right? They have to be walking around with perpetual hard ons currently. Anything but a World Series victory after these two moves, not to mention the massive amount of talent already on the roster, would surely be a disappointment. If I was a fan, I would be disappointed. I wouldn't think all was lost for the future, but they have to be considered the favorites right now.
  20. The Rays are likely to have have 8 of the first 100 picks in next year's draft. I think their management knows what it's doing. I would have to say they dropped the ball this past season by only adding Chad Qualls at the deadline.
  21. Because they can afford it even after giving Adrian Gonzalez 160m? Technically speaking they haven't signed Gonzalez to anything, and is still costing them only $5 million this year. Obviously they're going to try and sign him, but yeah. Crawford is the only big contract they've given out so far this year Would be awesome if Gonzalez leaves Red Sox after next season because Red Sox doesn't have enough money to add him into the mix? I think their payroll is about the same as last year now (which was about 160 M right???) so after next season (don't know who comes off the books for Red Sox) you would have to add at least 15 M on that payroll (Gonzalez making 5 M this year and most likely 20+ M after next season)... That would put them super close to the Yankees payroll... I think J.D. Drew is gone after this season. Which should clear enough room for them to add Prince Fielder as their DH.
  22. It is a good addition, but an awful contract. For their fans, I imagine it will be a tremendous disappointment if the Red Sox don't win the whole thing this season.
  23. Any else getting the feeling we are going to simply end up swapping first basemen with the Rays? I can't see the Orioles missing out on Adam LaRoche. DLee to the Rays? Unless, of course, they simply throw Zobrist over there! HaHa. I am so glad I never became a Rays fan when they first came to town. There management pisses me off almost as much as the Cubs.
