    Parallel paths and all that is wonderful, and can still be achieved without signing these guys that have already signed. I can't be upset because we haven't landed Pujols, Wilson, or Darvish. They simply didn't look right for one reason or another, and I hold no ill will. If we don't sign Prince, I will understand that. I think the silence is getting to people. If we don't get Prince, we most definitely will pull of at least one trade. Things are about to change.

    I dunno. Why offer Pujols a five-year deal? Yeah, I get the just in case scenario. 35 million would ring a touch more, I don't know, realistic. It isn't like there wasn't interest in the guy. And it also isn't like there was any type of precedent.

    Because it doesn't cost anything, and they'd look like complete and utter incompetent boobs if they chose to sit out and the bidding didn't get as high as everyone expected. That is one way to look at it, but it doesn't ring true for Darvish.

    Yep, not the Cubs. At first I thought it was just media games, but there is starting to be a pretty consistent "The Cubs aren't going to spend money right now" vibe coming from camp Theo. Whoever has the better system is who I am rooting for to not get Darvish, so we can flip them Garza.

    This is the second time I have seen this, and I still don't understand why people think Texas would give him up. It would be sort of similar to us giving up Castro.

    If Prince can't be had for less than 7 years, then I believe going young with upside would make me all kinds of excited. I believe Theo and Jed will have a nice new framework in place coming into spring training. I just wish I could fast forward because this waiting in the dark is killing me.

    Definitely depends on what we could get for Garza. I think we have to trade with Texas at this point for Olt and Perez. Apparently Rizzo is already available, and will most likely be flipped to the Rays. I know our FO is overhauled, but this off season is making me irrationally depressed.

    I would say they both have an equal chance to post rather underwhelming outings for the foreseeable future.

    I wonder if we could flip Garza to the Padres for Rizzo? Or is that not sexy enough for you guys? This is just idle speculation because I have no idea what else in their system, and it might not be pretty.

    Hmm. What an odd trade, there has to be at least one more guy. Nevermind #Padres acquire RHPs Edinson Volquez & Brad Boxberger, INF Yonder Alonso and C Yasmani Grandal from #Reds for RHP Mat Latos Sick trade for the Padres.
