  1. they scored on an error. howry and eyre have been really good. sorry. yes, they have. Rusch and Novoa were the ones who stunk up the joint who said rusch and novoa would be strong out of the pen? the supposed pen strength was eyre, howry and dempster. unfortunately, dempster has sucked recently. few saw that coming tho. Saw what coming? All things point to him most likely being hurt at this point given his missing velocity in his last few appearances. He's crapping the bed because he's missing a pitch, not because he's tanking with his "closer stuff," as some have rather gleefully predicted. perhaps he's hurt. prior to the season the back of the pen was considered a major strength. people were pretty confident in dempster.

  4. calling it now. infield fly to neifi. runner scores from 3rd.
  5. would be nice to be on the winning side of one of these games.
  6. womack and neifi will be starting from here out....
  7. that's ridiculous. it would take him two seconds to look up cedeno's minor league numbers. of course, he really didn't make that assumption. he just said that to take a veiled shot at the posters who like cedeno/obp. so defensive. i wasn't being defensive. i've never been huge on cedeno. i like him better than neifi, but that's not saying much. i'd have never guessed. ok just read your previous comment again. so i looked up cedeno's minor league number yet still made my comment about thinking he had better plate discipline. lol @ that bizarre accusation. i'm so evil! thanks for the laugh. gotta go. umm....what? classic. you even confused yourself. you said this "that's ridiculous. it would take him two seconds to look up cedeno's minor league numbers. of course, he really didn't make that assumption. he just said that to take a veiled shot at the posters who like cedeno/obp."
  8. Dang the one day the Cubs hit and they get zero pitching. Should have brought up Williams.

  11. I referred to him as Neifi Cedeno a few days ago. Cubs seem to be high on him. Probably like his Neifiesque tendencies. With the way Cedeno was hyped, I thought he'd have a little more plate discipline. Then you haven't paid attention to his minor league or winter league numbers. Regardless, HE'S A ROOKIE (not technically, but practicaly). There is a great probability that he will get better next year and for many years to come. Cedeno will probably never have much power or take a lot of walks, but for a SS he probably will hit pretty well. Your obsessive need to take the contrary side of every issue is tiresome.
  12. I referred to him as Neifi Cedeno a few days ago. Cubs seem to be high on him. Probably like his Neifiesque tendencies. With the way Cedeno was hyped, I thought he'd have a little more plate discipline. Who was hyping Cedeno? He's never been able to take a walk. many here wanting him starting. hence, i assumed he must take walks, if he's popular here.
  13. you honestly think that getting ONE guy back is going to turn the second worst offense in baseball to an offense capable of contending for a world series? I think it could happen. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the Cubs were scoring over 5 runs a game before Lee got hurt. We have a huge hole to dig ourself out of, but I think that we can score enough runs to win games once Lee gets back. Yep, over 5 runs a game, but that was back when Murton & Cedeno were hitting. When Lee returns, I think they can get back to over 4 1/2 runs per game. Their chances of contending are slim and none for this year. They're not too far away from contending next year tho. Lots of decisions to make next year tho, w/ Wood, Prior and Maddux.

  15. The shower of boos Neifi received on Friday probably broke Baker's heart. I hope you're right.
  16. lineup: cf. pierre 2b. neifi 1b. walker 3b. aram rf. jones lf. bynum c. blanco ss. cedeno
  17. weaver looks quite good. so does kendry morales. the angels have a bunch of kids in there tonight. aybar, morales, mcpherson, weaver and napoli, and is on their way to their 4th win in a row.
  18. Manny 1.000 ops Ortiz .921 ops & 14 homers Lowell .975 ops The Cubs have no one close to that. ARam's @ .809. Pierre's speed creates runs.
  19. interesting little tidbit pierre's gotten on base 54 times and scored 24 times. youklis has gotten on 85 times and scored 33 times. youklis has 10 more extra base hits than pierre, and has manny & ortiz behind him. i think it can be argued that when pierre does get on he's more likely to score. NOW GET ON BASE JUAN!
  20. fred, how many times have the cubs scored 3 or 4 runs in an inning since lee's injury? my guys is twice.
  21. I expect Jim Hendry to tell the serious truth, especially the fact that the Cubs have lost 19 out of 23 games. I would bet you that if it was George Steinbrenner as the owner for the Cubs, Baker would have been canned just right about now. Dusty have been given way too many oppiturnies. Dare I say it, that Dusty will more than likely have plenty of options to make this ballclub look bad as the Kansas City Royals. Exactly. The Trib doesn't care. Heck they broke an attendance record today. 4 more years!
  22. I'd still trade his career average for Youkilis' beefy .431 (It is .350 BTW, and its been dropping for a while) epstein won't and where does youkilis play in chicago? he's a 1b/3b right? I don't, just having pipe dreams. I'm not actually proposing anything, I'm just saying, destroy the conventional thinking. Speed is far overrated, and fat guys hitting homers and walking...well...aren't. obviously, speed's not useful when you don't hit. pierre was a.355 obp guy before this year. then he became a cub and the rest is history. :x
  23. kids getting another shot.
