  1. Well, at least Nef hits him well. A big game for Nef today and he's batting 2nd for the remainder of the season. ;)
  2. Only problem I have is Nef batting 2nd. Cedeno batting 3rd is fine. His ops versus righties is .933, which dwarfs Murton's.
  3. baker knows hrs, ba and rbis.
  4. I thought last year was a fluke, but they're the best team again this year. Last year it was chalked up to great pitching. This year they're 4th in runs. Williams went out and got a couple guys who some thought were done, Dye & Thome. Both have ops over 1.000. Pierzynski was a shaky move, as he's not the best clubhouse presence, but he's produced. Also, he hung in there on Konerko, who really struggled a few years ago. Altogether, got to give the guy lots of credit.
  5. They have the 2nd best ERA in all of baseball and find a way to maximize guys who would suckass on the Cubs (Eckstein, Rodriguez, Miles, Luna & Spezio). Ridiculous.
  6. Fortunately, the Cubs miss Peavy in this series. I have a feeling that SD lights up Guzman the 2nd times around. You ready yet Kerry?
  7. going strictly by the numbers versus righties, murton should bat 7th. cedeno's ops versus righties coming into today was .966. pierre's obp was .330 v. righties and walker's ops was .856. aram's was at .723, but he has a track record of success. jones ops was .971. barrett was .865. murton's ops was .655.
  8. I think they'll give him til July when Wood & Lee are back. Doubt they wait til next year when Prior returns. If they're 5 or more under, I think he's gone. There's some rumbling in the mainstream media about Baker getting the ax, so I think his job's on the line. I'd much rather see Baker go than Hendry. Baker's main asset is being a "player coach," and that tends to run its course over several year when player stop listening. If Baker was more of a tactician, he'd still be pretty useful. HOwever, tactics is the biggest mark against him. Altogether, if the Cubs don't win over 86 games, I think he's gone.
  9. murton's not tearing up righties, but he should be batting ahead of mabry.
  10. Still way way way better than Pierre's garbage, even against RHP. I say bat him first or second, especially against LHP. Then maybe Ramirez and Barrett will have an opportunity to hit some guys in for once. The power spike hasn't come yet, and I don't expect it until next year, so he is a top of the order type of guy, rather than an sixth or eighth hitter. pierre's obp v. righties is .330, but a god awful .178 v. lefties. mabry should be batting 9th. bum.
  11. I don't think that was Baker's fault. Just because a manager calls for a sac bunt doesn't mean you try and bunt at balls out of the zone. Even Marshall didn't do that. That was another example of bad baseball. This time it happens to be Cedeno showing incompetence at the plate. perhaps bad bseball on cedeno's part, but you have to play for a big inning when you're down 5, w/ a rookie on the mound, and especially w/ the way this team has been hitting. I hated the sac bunt call. But Cedeno also helped to ruin the inning because he could've been hitting with a 3-0 or 3-1 count. It seems that people want to hold only Baker accountable. Baker made another stupid decision. But Cedeno added to this team's poor and stupid play by insisting on offering at two pitchers clearly out of the strike zone. yeah, have to agree that cedeno can't be given a pass. it can't all be about dusty hate.

You can see Dusty logic being we haven't been scoring runs lately, you might as well scatch across runs because big innings have not come too often for this team. i can see it down a run or two, but you have up a .300 hitter. might as well try to get him on too for walker & aram. unfortunately, ego tends to sometimes get in the way of logic for baker.

  14. What proof? The result of calling the bunt was a guy who got behind early and GIDP. He was wild. If you never call the bunt you could easily have gotten Cedeno into a hitter's count and the result would be completely different. valid point. Baker's managing like they're down by a run. Baker = stubbornass
  15. What's your opinion of Marshall bunting here? IT's alright. I almost spit up my diet pepsi when cedeno squared around tho. where's your diet pepsi now? tossed it at the tv after the double play.
  16. What's your opinion of Marshall bunting here? IT's alright. I almost spit up my diet pepsi when cedeno squared around tho. shoot bunt looked good. :x
  17. Way to pull it back together marshall. Maybe he can go 6 innings. LOL Murton walk. Genius move to bat him 8th.
  18. Excuse me I may of missed something...When did Hill look good and why do you think he'll be alright? His last outing. Considering the circumstances (Bonds going for 714) he held up well.
  19. hill might be alright. doesn't look like guzman's quite ready. Marshall has looked better than Hill though. In his last 4 starts he had 25.1 IP and only gave up 4 ER. Marshall should stay in the rotation regardless unless he has a couple more bad starts. agree. i don't expect prior back anytime soon, so will have to go w/ 2 rooks.
  20. hill might be alright. doesn't look like guzman's quite ready.
  21. wooo. winn's line drive looked like trouble.
  22. no way the cubs get 6 runs to win. hurry up kerry wood. can't win w/ 3 rookies in the rotation.
