  1. If they traded for Griffey, I can see Dusty sitting Corey instead of Burnitz. :(
  2. I'll go w/ the guy w/ a 3.32 ERA as a starter tomorrow.
  3. The Cubs have got several shots in the arm of late, so maybe. Nomar, Lawton and Patterson are helping the hitting, and Kerry could be huge in the pen.
  4. This series shapes up pretty well, as there's no mismatches like the one on Saturday w/ Williams vs. Carpenter, and the Cubs miss Clemens. Woo hoooo. Game 1 - Rodriguez vs. Rusch. Rodriguez gave up 4 runs in 6 innings vs. the Cubs early in the year. His ERA is over 6, so the Cubs should be able to get some runs off him. Was hoping Wood wouldn't have to be used tonight, so he could relieve Rusch, but oh well. Hopefully, Rusch can go 6, and the Cubs get a strong outing from the pen. Game 2 - Maddux v. Petitte. Petitte's been great this year, so the Cubs need a huge game from Maddux. Good thing about this game is that Wood should be ready for 30 or 40 pitches again. Game 3 - Z v. Oswalt. Cubs got their best going against a really good. starter. Altogether a great series shaping up, and Houston's been spinning their wheels the the past 10 games, while the Cubs just took 3 of 4 from the best team in the NL. Also, good to see Nomar, Lawton & Patterson gettign it going.
  5. YESSS!! Nice to get some momentum going into Houston. WOOOOOOOOO
  6. Cub defense given up 2 runs tonight. Love to see a stat on this for this season. Fred?? It's gotta be up there.
  7. Finally someone throws at the Cards. Wish that throw would have drilled LaRussa. He'd finally have something to cry about.
  8. Which is why Dempster is up in the bullpen. Dempster will make it interesting. :? I find it funny how you bash us for saying bad things about Macias/Neifi yet you say this about a pitcher that has done a very good job this year. Never sad he'd lose the game. Never said not to put him in there. Dempster just usually puts some men on base and makes it interesting.
  9. Which is why Dempster is up in the bullpen. Dempster will make it interesting. :? Not as interesting as LaTrash. Very true.

  11. Cmon Lawton put this game away. Kerry doesn't have another inning in him.
  12. Agree the Cubs need to add someone who will force Burnitz to the bench. Baker will not play Murton over a vet like Burnitz.
  13. Gotta give Dusty credit for his usage of Wood in this series. Both times he used him when Pujols and Edmonds were up. My guess is that the plan is to use him when Berkman's up in Houston.
  14. That's true. The .306 OBP with an average of .293 tells me the guy never takes a walk, which limits his effectiveness. I'm beating my head against the wall cause Macias didn't take a walk. 4-3 is better than 5-3. The guys a bench player who can play a bunch of positions. You want to bring back DuBois, who has a lower obp and can't play any positions? Yeah, Dubois will be a career sub-.300 OBP guy. He's a better offensive player than Macias by a fair margin even with his struggles, if that's what you're asking. How's he doing w/ Cleveland? 2005 OPS Macias -- .659 Cubois -- .766 Next question, please. Does the NL have a DH?
  15. You a doctor? What's the point of this comment. It is well known that Kerry is going to need surgery this offseason. Are you just trying to get under his skin because he is a Cards fan? You don't think Hendry's has consulted w/ doctor's?? Some of the nitpicking of the Cub organization and incessant griping is amazing here.

  17. The nitpicking of Macias and Neifi's a bunch of crap. Macias is a utility player, who hits .300. I have no idea why he and Neifi have become the whipping boys. This team was not built around them. It was built around a couple guys named Wood and Prior. Maybe it was built around the wrong two guys then. Just a thought. So you wouldn't have built it around Prior & Wood? Interesting.
  18. Not at all. Many on this board agree with you. According to Hendry, several specialists have told them that he can't do any more damage to his arm if he only throws one inning at a time and less than 35-40 pitches. Has Hendry consulted w/ the Northside specialist though?

  21. That's pretty generous. Prior's suppose to be the ace, and the Cardinals have several scrubs playing. He's far from an ace.
