  1. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2011/02/cubs-announce-search-for-new-public-address-announcer.html What kind of money does this gig pay?
  2. How much do you think albert brings in on jersey sales? I would think that market is pretty much tapped out since he has been there so long and everybody who wants a Pujols jersey already has one.
  3. Do you have a free room for any BW? There is a best western within walking distance of Wrigley. Even one in Downtown. I believe so. It's my buddy doing all the hotel checking since he is the one getting the free room. Does the best western new wrigley have a 2 night minimum. Everywhere he has called near there has told him he needed to at least get 2 nights
  4. I'm a little disappointed that nobody has made the joke that he WAS the poop in his spot in the dugout.
  5. I got 10 bleacher ticket for May 14th against San Fran. I am not real familiar with the area, but we have a free room for the Best Western. Is the one in Evanston too far away, or does anybody have an idea how much a cab ride is to the stadium?
  6. I was just going to post this. Should have woke up earlier.
  7. The poll on the website even says different
  8. oh lord, hit me with some pictures or something, that sounds off the charts Recipe later, once I find it. Recipe: Ingredients: ~1 lb boneless chicken breasts/cutlets ~1 lb thick-cut bacon brown sugar chili powder (to taste) toothpicks - Prep brown sugar + chili powder on a bowl/plate, stir together to mix. I use about 1 tbsp chili powder to 1 cup brown sugar, which gives it a little heat but not overpowering. It's not an exact science, just play around and see what works. - Cut raw chicken breasts into 1-in cubes, try to keep size even so they all cook the same - Cut bacon strips in half - Wrap bacon around chicken cube, hold with toothpick. - Roll bacon-wrapped chicken around in sugar/chili mixture until evenly coated, and put finished ones in baking pan (or cookie sheet, I guess, just something to hold them in there) - Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 mins, or until chicken is cooked, bacon is cooked, and sugar mixture caramelizes around it. - Makes about 30-40 or so per batch. Well I just prepped these to cook for the game. I may have cut my chicken a little small but I think they will turn out all right. Do I need to flip them at all or just let them cooked until done?
  9. oh lord, hit me with some pictures or something, that sounds off the charts http://www.royalbaconsociety.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/bacon-wrapped-chicken.jpg Recipe later, once I find it. I was fine reading this thread until I saw this picture, and now I am searching through my house trying to satisfy my craving but nothing is going to ease my pain until I make them. I doubt I go to a Super Bowl party this year but I will probably make these even if it is just me watching the game alone.
  10. Not even the most perfect honey is sweeter than this beard.
  11. http://danny-knobler.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/8590096/26827175 7 years 80 Million. Prob. could have got a lot more if he waited till he was a free agent.
  12. Grace is my favorite player. I would love to see him doing Cubs games, but I don't see why he would move to radio.
  13. Personally I wouldn't give up too much to get him, but maybe the asking price has gone down some since he really wants traded, not much but some. If they did make the trade I would be excited to have him and I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the prospects we lost, even though I would prefer to keep the prospects.
  14. Don't you feel bad for defending the first one now? I stand by my original comments, but I can see why some wouldn't agree now.
  15. Wait no longer. The Cubs Organizational Meeting Ricketts: “OK..let’s get started. Which one of you is the G.M.?” Hendry: “That would be me.” Ricketts: “I thought you were the guy who gives me a donut every day.” Hendry: “I’m that too..but I’m the guy who is responsible for the major and minor league teams.” Ricketts: “OK..what does 2011 look like for the big club?” Hendry: “Well..due to my astute talent evaluation and deal making, I think we can compete in 2011.” Ricketts: “Oh..so we acquired a quality 1-2 starter?” Hendry: “Well..no, but I'm dumpster diving right now and may get someone who hasn't picked up a baseball in 3 years.” Ricketts: “And what did we do to replace a .300 hitter like DLee at 1st base?” Hendry: “We got a .190 left handed hitter who struggles against all pitching.” Ricketts: “Did we trade Soriano, Fukudome or Zambrano yet?” Hendry: “No, I’m waiting until the trading deadline, so we only have to eat all their remaining contract and not a portion.” Ricketts: “And what about our minor leaguers, what about our hot shot 3rd baseman?” Hendry: “He’s playing right field and still can’t hit.” Ricketts: “Excellent..you’ve achieved a great deal of success, Jim, with the 4th highest payroll in the majors.” Hendry: “I stand by my record.” Ricketts: “And we can compete with this fine club you have assembled? Hendry: “Sure..we get some breaks and stay away from injuries..I think 3rd place in the division is very reachable.” Ricketts: “Now, how about some lunch. Could I have one of those sprinkled donuts?” Hendry: “Don’t press your luck. Take a donut hole and by the way, I’m bringing back Kerry Wood.” Ricketts: “Third place is a lock.” I defended the last one, but you should have stopped after that.
  16. The latter is somewhat justifiable. Strasburg's arm was a ticking time bomb at the time, and it also exploded quickly. Who knows how he'll pitch when he gets back. One could argue that Strasburg's durability is unknown and/or is going to be poor, thus a trade for someone who has made 30 starts every year since 2003 while being extremely effective is a solid move. There's a high probability that Strasburg will be as good as Oswalt is. That being said, factoring in contracts and the fast washington is a couple years away, i wouldnt pull the trigger. i just dont think it's a completely insane deal. It is no way shape or form justifiable, that would be like saying we should have traded Kerry Wood in 1998 for Kevin Brown. Yes Oswalt is a good pitcher but the clock is ticking on his career and just cause a guy might have an injury in his rookie year doesn't mean he won't have a good career. I know you said you wouldn't do the deal but it is insane to even consider trading away a pitcher with that potential for a guy that might take you from a 60 win team to a 70 win team for the next 2 years.
  17. lol. I am not sure why people are ripping on this post. It does look odd considering what he signed for but I've often thought that is how Hendry does his negotiating with relievers. Funny stuff Yeah, I chuckled when I read it. Are you 2 [expletive] serious? Of course it doesn't work with the actual money Kerry got, but all the time we had wondering what he would get this is kind of how I figured it would go down. I imagine Benchwarmer had this thought up before he saw how much money it was and I applaud him for the courage to go ahead and post it, knowing the ridicule he would receive for trying to bring a smile to the face of all of us here at NSBB and make the world a better place.

  19. I thought the same thing, and just saw this on MLBTR Looks like Webb isn't on their radar That eases my worries a little bit
  20. I know hes is not what he once was but I still think he could help the team win. If he came here he knows he wont be the closer and Marshall is probably going to be in the bullpen again as the setup guy, and I think if he would be willing to accept a lesser role he would be better than everybody else we have in the bullpen already (unless guzman picks up where he left off) and I would rather see him pitching before calling up samardzjia (sp?) or someone else that is going to be called up then sent down and repeat. I'm a little more optimistic about next year than most, but if we are out of it by mid season I say stretch him out and let him start again, for strictly nostalgic reasons.
  21. Please? Yeah, Ive been skipping over everything non-Webb related which has been most of the last couple of pages.
  22. Would they just hurry up and sign him so I can be a little optimistic about this season. Sorry to bring up Webb in the Webb thread, but I get a little nervous that the Yankees lost out on Lee and they might jump on the wagon. I know they said they are not going to focus on starting pitching but I wouldn't count them out.
