  1. According to Rosenthal: #Cubs would get DeWitt, Class AA pitcher and possibly third player for Lilly/Theriot package. Not sure of financial exchange. #Dodgers #MLB
  2. Verge of a deal according to Jayson Stark. Theriot going with - nothing on who's coming back yet besides probably DeWitt.
  3. Done deal according to Heyman. Ludwick to the Padres, Westbrook to the Cardinals, Prospects to the Indians.
  4. Jesus, that's even worse. If they traded Z for just Perez, without throwing in any money? I think I'd take that. You would trade a pitcher with an era under 4 when starting for a guy who's era has been in the 6's most of his career starting at roughly the same age? One pitches in a hitters park (Wrigley), and the other pitches in a pitchers park (New York). I realize that people want to blow the team up, but blowing the team up and gaining less productive players at the same age is not going to end well.
  5. Don't know if it means much but Blake Dewitt was taken out of the game.
  6. From Dylan Hernandez (who is a beat writer for the Dodgers).. Dodgers talking to Cubs about a multi-player deal that would include Lilly and a position player (probably not Theriot). Who would the other player be? Fontenot or Baker?
  7. Here's the link..... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/baseball/mlb/07/30/deadline.news/index.html?eref=sihp
  8. According to Heyman.. Jackson to the White Sox for Daniel Hudson/David Holmberg
  9. Oh, you guys aren't going to like this. From George Ofman's twitter..
  10. What's up with Phil Rogers and his axe to grind with Zambrano? From his article today...
  11. Is there anyone who really buys the family excuse from Lee considering his off season home is in Sacramento and it's only for 3 months?
  12. Milton was bad in his first year here, Lee has a track record and has built up goodwill with the fans and community. There's a really big difference there. Not as bad as Lee has been this year with hardly any complaints from the media. One got torn to shred, and the other hasn't really been touched. First half of Milton's season last year and first half of Derrek's this year.. Bradley last year: .243 .379 .381 .760 Lee this year: .233 .329 .366 .695 This directly correlates to my post that Derrek's been pretty well protected by the Chicago media because he's perceived to be a quiet leader/nice guy to the media.
  13. Protected how? Of the disappointing players he's easily the least criticized. Every description of him is as a quiet leader. Ramirez was a lazy bum even when he was consistently producing. Fukudome is just a horrible bust. Zambrano is the "ace in name only". Lee is just Lee. Milton Bradley was torn to shreds last year and he was hitting pretty darn close to what Lee is this year. Add on that comments about the fans booing and racist Cubs fans and he's had a huge leash here.
  14. Maybe Lee just doesn't want to leave because he's been the protected boy in the Chicago media.
  15. Plans to accept according to ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5420095
  16. Doesn't want to go to Philly? He can miss the playoffs in Houston and still be a hero, or go to the Phillies and risk missing the playoffs, in which case he's a bum. Besides the obvious. He has a 2.60 era at their ballpark. He'll be pitching behind Halladay with Hamels. His option is getting picked up, and the Phillies will be a major contender for the next couple of years unlike Houston. Seems like a slam dunk to me.
  17. Is there any reason why Oswalt wouldn't accept this trade?
  18. Don't worry - the Cubs won't trading Lee, and they'll re-sign him for another 3-4 year deal with another NTC. :D
  19. Anyone else bothered by the two days? That really underlines the immaturity and lack of responsibility involved IMO. Zambrano could've saved everyone a whole lot of trouble if he had shortened that to two hours (i.e., in the clubhouse right after the game). Lou told him to go home after the incident.
