  1. it sounds like he's a poor defender at catcher. maybe he's a bat off the bench, backup 1st baseman, and emergency catcher? i have a hard time believing the cubs will get rid of hill when they seem to dismiss geo's defensive ability
  2. if we're playing the likely game, it's likely archer, lee, and guyer combined will never be as productive as matt garza by himself.
  3. you'll all feel stupid in a few months when archer loses his throwing arm in a bizarre lawn mower accident.
  4. 3 years. i won't freak out until the trade is official. it's very common that the minor league players that writers speculate are going end up being wrong.
  5. I say Blyleven and Alomar get in.
  6. hopefully luck isn't stupid enough to stay in college another season.
  7. it's nice to see the sec lose. and it's fun to see ohio state haters on this board get all pissy. but now everyone i know will be insufferable about this win. CONFLICTED
  8. I was thinking we'd see a completely new cast of characters there. Thought Lewis would be gone, Palmer, TO, Ocho, and Benson gone as well. I'm sure TO is gone, but keeping Lewis may mean they don't plan on rebuilding immediately, so maybe those other 3 are coming back now? John Clayton ranked Carson Palmer as the #15 QB, just ahead of...Jay Cutler. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=5972554 interesting. with lewis coming back, i'd be very shocked if ocho is a bengal next season. those 2 hate each other.
  9. lol bungles http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5987400
  10. My guess is they would both serve their time in the countries where they live, and where the crimes occured. BUT THEY'RE BOTH BASEBALL PLAYERS THAT COMMITTED VIOLENT CRIMES. Correct. allegedly
  11. i wouldn't be shocked if seattle beat new orleans
  12. I think this makes it pretty clear that winning is not a priority of D Lee. Along with the rejection of the trades until they basically strong armed him last year, this proves that Lee just likes being in a comfortable situation. He was a good player for the Cubs, but good riddance. Have fun losing 100 games, DLee, I hope you personally greet all 12,000 fans that will see you play most games. what the hell is your problem? what winning team was looking for a first baseman? it's not like lee had a choice between the yankees, red sox, phillies, and orioles.
  13. This. Yes, mostly the latter. Cub fans would still have liked him after they realized there wasn't anything magical about his schtick. But then he insisted on being a turd. That was the end. To be honest, if I had the 2004 he did, and the manager and players were more concerned with me than what was going on on the field and it made my job hell, I think I'd have taken potshots on the way out the door as well. eh, i'm guessing stone is thin skinned and blew it way out of proportion. and if not, it seems like in retrospect he deserved the treatment anyways.
  14. all i know is that the bengals whooped the packers and bears' asses last season so suck it
  15. so the cubs would be interested in extending wood and pena if they were healthy and productive in 2011? whoa, stop the presses
  16. we were ecstatic. especially because we kept matt clement, who we all thought was a goner.
  17. whoa, slow down nostradomus. what are your thoughts on mark prior making 30 starts for the Yanks this year? i'd say looking at his injury history it's very unlikely
  18. i'll go on a limb and say wood gets hurt in may and is the cubs color guy for the next 40 years
  19. it's weird how derek jeter either seems to be way overrated or way underrated depending on who you talk to
  20. the wrong cubs color guy died
  21. aaron rowand destroyed his face one time to catch a flyball. you can't put a price tag on that hustle and grit.
  22. ok nccubfan
  23. maybe the person was ryan howard
  24. now they're saying $120 million guaranteed, plus the vesting option. so while he took less money to go to philly, the difference isn't as big as previously believed
