  1. omar vizquel almost hit a homer. hahahahahaha
  2. the bullpen is dusty-proof though Am I the only one not excited about the bullpen? Don't get me wrong, Eyre is a nice upgrade and Dempster has been better than I expected. But, Hendry is going on 3 years of making the bullpen an offseason priority and I don't see that much of an appreciable difference to date. That being said, I haven't looked at their stats recently. middle relievers stats are really impossible to predict. we signed mike remlinger after an amazing season. i could see the same thing happen with howry and eyre.
  3. if it's any consolation if anyone but barry bonds is on base right now the cubs are losing by even more.
  4. Hill didn't suck. he certainly wasn't amazing. I'm sorry he didn't throw a no-hitter, what un-realistic expectations. OK HIS 8 HITS 3 WALKS 5 ER IN 6 INNINGS WAS VERY GOOD.
  5. Hill didn't suck. he certainly wasn't amazing.
  6. not really. that's long gone in any other stadium.
  7. Not even close. He's still crap offensively, one good catch notwithstanding.
  8. Please. We're all human beings, no need to let sports loyalty cloud your judgement to the point that you sound like a maniac. Show some respect. He doesn't have to respect Sox fans on a Cubs message board.
  9. it'd be pretty foolish if brenly didn't use his experience managing the diamondbacks to help his broadcasts. knowing his history, i'm interested to know what the manager is thinking in certain situations.
  10. http://www.progressiveboink.com/dugout/farnsworth/ that's my fav farnsworth one
  11. if we're giving up marshall then the mets have to throw in pedro.
  12. .248/.404/.615 61 homers 122 RBI is what he's on pace for! i wonder what the best non-barry bonds isod is.
  13. Didn't someone write an article here that said it would cost us 2 or 3 games this year?...turns out it was 2 or 3 games a week. That's ridiculous. The offense was bad with Lee and now its downright terrible. There are a few more factors than just Lee being out. For instance, the Cubs had an amazing BA with RISP prior to Lee's injury - the last few games its been terrible. Walker has cooled off. 5 runs per game is bad??    -a thoughtless post  you don't remember lee's 810 rbi + runs last season?
  14. subpar pitching causes bad hitting? no. just saying lee's absence isn't the only reason this team sucks.
  15. the cubs are 24th in the league in strikeouts! way to put the ball in play boys.
  16. runs allowed in the 1st 14 games: 58 last 14: 75
  17. 38 innings without scoring a run if you don't count maddux's rbi walk (which i don't, for some odd reason)
  18. it's entirely possible the cubs won't win ever again.
  19. wow, the cubs are in the bottom 4 in homeruns. homeruns were the only thing that kept our offense at least respectable in the past.
  20. How come strikeouts don't matter if the player is overall very productive but a few check swing groundouts do?
  21. I think this team has plenty of heart...yada yada yada...etc. They just aren't very good. Exactly. I'm sure this team wants to win plenty. The problem with the team is a lack of talent.
  22. maybe cy will tire after the 4th start and we can win 1-0 in the 5th game.
  23. juan pierre didn't do a good enough job of getting in the pitcher's head while on base.
