  1. we're getting at least 3 off fogg this inning.
  2. time to rest my regulars
  3. no worries. fogg won't make it past the 2nd inning tomorrow.
  4. at last, an advantage to living in ohio. i'll be watching thom brenneman whine about the cubs yet again today.
  5. I already posted the stats to refute this, but no one seemed to notice. Actually Derwood, your posting of statistics helped prove my point that Dunn isn't a great hitter (by my definition). His BBs and Ks (no contact) account for 43% of his ABs and in the 53% of ABs where he makes contact, 70% of the time he makes outs. so basically that means he has a .300 BABIP, which doesn't really mean anything except that when adam dunn makes contact, it results in an out about as often as every other batter in baseball history.
  6. i don't want the cubs facing the sox and yankees every year. but i have to admit that they idea of seeing the cubs play in fenway is very exciting, and i really hope they get there soon, either by interleague play or from the world series.
  7. According to Jim Baker, these are the 3 worst Cubs seasons of all-time: Interesting, but there's gotta be even worse than that from the dark periods of 1909-now. I just can't believe the 3 worst Cubs seasons have all happened within the past 8 years. Here's his article where he breaks down the worst seasons for each team: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=baker/080820
  8. I wonder if they even knew he was this good until he went to the Cubs? Yes. Gammons specifically, but several of the bloggers as well, have consistently rated Harden as among the best pitchers in baseball when healthy. These analysts rarely settle definitively on a "best", they often use phrases like "may be the best pitcher", and then add some other qualifiers. Gammons likes to use the phrase, "the best pitcher you've never heard of" when talking about Harden. But I've read Harden-love numerous times from the ESPN baseball team long before he was a Cub. thom brenneman was basically gushing at harden the whole game yesterday, though he always added the "when healthy" qualifier.
  9. i kind of like the batting practice jersey they have, i'd like to see the primary cubs logo on a blue uniform again. other than that, no to everything else.
  10. the cubs are 40-18 when bob howry appears, i'm just sayin guys maybe howry's the most valuable reliever we've got.
  11. i can't wait til i'm commissioner so i can officially rename the mvp award "the best player in the league award".
  12. you guys are creepy. saying "she's definitely going to be hot" is a sneaky way of saying that you think a 16 year old girl is hot right now.
  13. Or 2B, 3B, CF, or C. I'll take my chances with a few sluggers, a few of great hitters (by my definition), and a few singles hitters over 8 Dunns, especially if they have to play the field. The 8 Dunns would score 18 runs one game and score nothing for the next two games as they strike out 20 times in each game. i agree that a team full of dunn's would be bad because the defense would be horrid. but the offense wouldn't be as hit or miss as you suggest. they'd score ~6 runs a game pretty consistently.
  14. Houston? Arizona? 2 more series that add to my point. This team scalds the ball for outs insanely often. I guess it's a good sign but it drives me nuts. i doubt this happens to the cubs more than any other team. it's part of the game.
  15. i'll speak for meph and mention that rocco baldelli is a free agent.
  16. hahaha, someone finally stays in the middle box through the whole routine and they completely butcher the landing. way to go trampolining
  17. i'm not sure if i'm loving watching this now or hating it. it's pretty fascinating how high they get...but it's trampolining!
  18. jody gerut!! 3-1 pads
  19. so does phelps swim tonight?
  20. you can admire and at least do a light jog.
  21. it was probably that, and no need to keep old injury prone edmonds in the game during a blowout.
