  1. I give us a generous 12 percent chance to tie this game here.
  2. I mean, my god, I could tell without instant replay that he wasn't anywhere near the bag. Horseshit.
  3. I'm hoping AJ Hinch shortens him up a little bit on his next start.
  4. I remember us taking a pure flyer late in the 08 draft on Gray, not expecting him to sign. Does anyone remember, though, if we gave him a legitimate offer or even seriously attempted to get him to sign? Because he's been tremendous at Vandy...
  5. They guessed 9000. Guess the attendance game is brutal - more appropriately, I guess the way they announce attendance is brutal.
  6. WOnder what Pat and Dave are gonna guess for the attendance... about 75?
  7. hey hey the board's back online!
  8. Yes! Ryan Theriot leading off again. You know, the same Ryan Theriot that is 16/75 (.213) the last 3 weeks complete with 0 walks and 0 XBH during that timeframe. IN case you’re keeping track that’s a .213/.213/.213 line
  9. Cashner threw 100 innings last year. He needs to be stretched out if he ever is going to start. By sending him to the pen already, you've stunted his opportunity to help the big league rotation next season or just push him into an arm injury. This is stupid for reasons that have nothing to do with how you break him into the big leagues. The Cubs have just sent their top two pitching prospects to the pen only a month after sending one of their 3 best starters to the pen. How ridiculous. THIS. Man, how depressing a night. We [expletive] away a game on the big league level, and then this news.
  10. It'd be better if the platoon was Baker/Fontenot and we shipped slappys ass off to somewhere else. Maybe it was a Baker/Fontenot that was suggested. But we're not going to just bench Theriot, and I can't imagine he's got much trade value, do you?
  11. Someone mentioned that a true platoon or close to it for Theriot/Fontenot might not be a bad idea, and i'm starting to warm to that idea. Theriot's been absolutely brutal this year. That .300 average isn't worth much when he's only hitting singles and not drawing walks.
  12. Can't Ronnie Woo Woo just [expletive] die already?
  13. Boy that was some special baserunning.
  14. The 7th inning stretch continues to be a trainwreck. DId anyone see Lee Smith struggle out there? Good God.
  15. I'm 100% certain I did something certain when I muffed a flyball in the OF...when i was like 9. That was HILARIOUS.
  16. You should sit in the bleachers at Wrigley, most know nothing about baseball like you seem to do. Yeah that was a pretty ignorant comment.
  17. Boy the situational hitting in the bottom of that inning was [expletive] horrible. Put the bat on the ball Aramis. Good god.
  18. When the initial report came out, CSN said that Howry would join the Cubs this weekend in Arlington. This is what I was reacting to. If he signs a minor league deal and heads to Iowa and starts there without affecting the big club right away, then i'm ok with the signing. But CSN saying "he was heading to Texas" didn't sound like that.
  19. So I guess he's gonna be replacing Stevens this weekend. This is a sad, sad joke isn't it?
  20. Good god get this old bag of bones off my TV
  21. He's 19. Have some patience. Not everyone's going to be Starlin Castro. He's way ahead of where he "should" be developmentally-wise. Give him a full season at Peoria before you judge.
  22. We plucked him out of an indepentant league in the middle of last year. He did pretty decent in Daytona last year goind 7-2 with a 2.04 ERA. However, as a 25 year old in AA, with Cashner, Jackson, Diamond, and Coleman ahead of him, I dont know what kind of future he has. ABD pitched for Peoria last year. I saw him pitch. Average stuff, excellent control, probably not gonna work in the majors though. Good organizational arm though, I think.
  23. At least this won't lead to impossible expectations. But wow, what a debut.
  24. yes Thanks. I figured maybe Heyward woulda been, but he was born late in 89.
  25. couldnt find a good way to search this, but is Castro the first MLB player to make the bigs born in the 90s? Christ, just typing that made me feel old.
