  1. People kept saying the Cubs had their easiest part of the schedule the first month and a half of the season, however June looks to be the easy part based on how teams have played this season. 5 vs. Pitts (i know they have had the cubs number but it will change.) 3 vs. Hou 3 vs. Mil 6 vs. White Sox 3 vs. SEA Then OAK and Anaheim are not exactly that good. June could be a huge month for this team to take off.
  2. Brandon Lyon's 3 yr $15 million contract is one of the few in all of baseball that is worse than Grabow's. Whoa... .Good call Grabow for Lyons and 8 million? :)
  3. With Houston possibly selling what about Lyons or Lindstrom? Lyons never seems to have spectacular stuff but 4 out of the last 5 years has gotten the job done. Maybe try to re-acquire wuertz if the A's get into a selling position? Do we have any more AAAA prospects we can give to Beane? How about Shark and Micah!? (joke)
  4. Does this game happen tonight or is it supposed to rain all evening? I have not looked yet.
  5. I also enjoy checking in on Geo. So good to see Geo can hit outside of that 8 spot. I was worried..... Lou sucks.
  6. Starlin Castro is the only reason I am going out of my way to watch games. He is looking better and better by the day defensively and looks like he has been in the league a couple of years offensively.
  7. Per MLB Trade Rumors Would he be worth taking a flyer on?
  8. I think has some major control issues for a late inning reliever.
  9. I do not know if I totally agree, I enjoy watching a lot of these players and I think sooner than later Lee and Ramirez will be hot and this team will have people roped right back in. Byrd and Soriano have been fun to watch the majority of the season as well as Fuku.
  10. Starlin's swing looks like Hanley..... One can only hope!
  11. According to Lou, Grabow is out the next couple of days to knee injuries! Can we please drag this injury out?
  12. On the flip side of this is it possible the Cubs are hoping for a great year from Silva so they can move him and part of his salary after this year? I agree with you on Lilly. I just keep spinning off ideas because the longer I see Z in the pen the more upset I get.
  13. People have speculated the Cubs will attempt to move Gorz for a set up man. But if he continues to pitch really well would anyone consider moving Lilly? Everybody loves Teddy Ballgame but if the return and the replacement for him is there why not move the older more expensive pitcher?
  14. Please get rid of Grabow as soon as possible!
  15. See Nomar, not saying thats who Castro will turn out to be but sometimes good contact hitters make a living off swinging at a first pitch fastball 2-3 times a game.
  16. I don't understand how a team with such good hitting and starting pitching can be sub .500. It is somewhat baffling. The explanation seems to be the [expletive] bullpen and the offense hitting/producing in streaks* and not being consistent. The defense has also been suspect at times. *In the 10 games we have scored 3 or less the record is 1-9 record. The rest (4 or more runs) with a record of 12-4. So roughly 1/3 of our games the offense has been bad the rest it has been ok to great. Also the poor record in the low scoring games can be indicative of the bullpen not being able to hold leads or keep a game tied. I think ARam and Lee will help stabilize that somewhat, with some obvious drop in numbers from others. But all in all it is extremely encouraging that average/bad pitchers will get destroyed vs. this lineup. This could definitely be the start of an awesome summer.
  17. Cubs have 3 of the top 10 OPS leaders in the NL - Fukudome, Soriano, Byrd.
  18. Man I am smart. kudos... sensing a third this afternoon? :) Cant tell yet, I am more sensing Lou taking him out for Colvin for some "rest". If he bats again than sure he will.
  19. wow, didnt some projections have him between 10-15 homers??
  20. I am sensing more than 1 homer from Sori today.
  21. Soriano is not running much but to me he looks like he is in as good of shape as the day the Cubs signed him. So nice to see him killing it!
  22. Yeah..........I don't know if I could stomach a Cubs .v. Cubs game. The Cubs would definitely lose.
