  1. With Maddon's relationship and Bosio I just have a weird feeing the Cubs are going to pry Archer from the Rays. What does it take? Jimenez, Happ, Torres, Hudson?
  2. So if Rizzo gets a breather here is my guess. Scizzor Heyward Bryant Zobrist Baez Russell Almora Ross Lester That looks somewhat depressing, but still will provide the dongs
  3. This team will have several more 7 to 10 game win streaks. This past week and a half has been frustrating but it will alone fine!
  4. I want Andrew Miller. That is all thanks
  5. Anderson is a big reverse splits guy. Javy Dong will happen.
  6. I can't wait to see Javy pitching when the Cubs are blowing out the Padres 17-0 in the 9th.
  7. Looking closely I think this game goes as planned until late innings, if/when it starts raining I think the game will be called from there. Get ahead early.
  8. Well it's the perfect time for the Cubs to be the biggest story in baseball. Why wouldn't he want to come here?
  9. I get a feeling Javy is about to go off this weekend and steal majority playing time from Soler. Anyone else feeling this way? He seems to be on a different level this year at the plate and is showing a lot of confidence.
  10. Rizzo and Bryant hit 40 HR's each and finish 1st and 3rd in NL MVP Jake repeats and wins second cy young Russell hits 22 bombs Zobrist struggles to stay on the field as does La Stella leading the Cubs to need infield depth. Hammel is awful all year and the 4th spot in the rotation becomes a mixed bag until a big pitcher is acquired at the deadline. Cubs give up McKinney, Vogelbach, Torress, Paul Blackburn, and more at the deadline for infield and another top of rotation starter. Cubs come back to clinch the NL championship after being down 3 games to 1 behind the Nats.
  11. Releasing Brothers now seems odd doesn't it? Wonder if something happened or if they felt he just wasn't a fit.
  12. I'm cautiously optimistic that Brothers makes the team and returns to his form a couple of years ago. If that happens I don't see how this bullpen is not one of the best in baseball again.
  13. Plays a surprisingly decent CF once per week. Gets 430 ABs hits .263/.307/.464 w/17 HR's and 17 SB's.
  14. I get the feeling Soler was only available in trade for Carrasco, Salazar, Miller types of pitchers and at this point they know a 1 for 1 for that type of pitcher is not possible. I don't think the intention with him or Baez has ever been to get less that max value for them. Soler can be an absolute monster and can still improve to become adequate defensively. He is not getting trade unless the Indians reconsider for Jose Fernandez becomes available at workable price. They can pluck a starter from a team selling off pieces mid season using prospects like McKinney etc.
  15. Welcome to free agency. Does it even matter? The TV deal will be here by then and they will write that contract off like its nothing if he is bad. Besides, one World Series and it ends up being a great move.
  16. have you called out your friend of samardzija yet? Yea I gave him some crap. I hesitated even posting it. He claims That Jeff told him the Cubs were staying at 3 years, he almost took the deal because his next best offer was from the DBacks for 4/75 mil. Apparently his market picked up heavily Thursday. He wanted to go back to Bosio but couldn't turn down the extra years.... Could be bs could but that's what he said.
  17. Gammons just said the Rays are willing to listen on Archer and Odorizzi. How about: Baez, McKinney, Underwood, vogelbach, contreras Archer, McGee
  18. Just to be clear, I have no affiliation with the dude on Twitter and didn't hear anything about the terms of the deal.
  19. I am slightly hesitant to post this but I will anyway. A close friend of mine graduated with Jeff and still stays in touch. According to him Jeff said he will be back with the Cubs and it should be announced within the next week. No details beyond that and take it for what it is worth. I can only vouch for the fact that they graduated together at valpo.
  20. Wasn't it John Hart who was all gushy over Albert Almora when the Cubs drafted him? I actually think the Cubs match up well with he Braves because the Braves don't seem to expect to compete for a couple years. That may allow them to use young top prospects and allow them to keep Baez/Soler. Does Torres and McKinney get Miller?
  21. http://m.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/yankees-talking-brett-gardner-for-starlin-castro-cubs-article-1.2441411 I don't like this unless we can pry away Andrew Miller
  22. I'm in the camp on making Schwarber a 40 - 50 game catcher and 90-100 game LF. My top 2 targets are both Indians. I really want 1 of the Carrasco, Kluber, Salazar group and really want Brantley. If one of those 3 starters can be had I would top off the rotation with a Price, only because I think it is going to happen anyway. i would also be all over Chapman, The bullpen would be dominant with that addition. Players I would be willing to move in the deals above: Soler, Baez or Castro, Almora, McKinney, Hammel, Contreras, vogelbach and basically any other prospect. I think something it's easy to pick the known names but to me it seems like Theo and Jed will go off the radar and pull out some surprising moves. I bet we are looking at a new CF, utility IF, RP, and 2-3 starting pitchers. Can't wait to see how it unfolds.
