  1. Angel Echevarria is going to be signed to platoon at 1B.
  2. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110128&content_id=16527512&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb Pretty funny stuff but Lance should probably keep it quiet until he shows he can play OF and shows that he can still hit.
  3. My bet is most if not all will be ex-cubs come March 31st.
  4. Jackson not cracking the top 100 is a travesty... good power, good discipline, good speed, numbers to back it up and close to the majors.... KLaw is on crack.
  5. These guys are probably better than Hill and Bynum right now. But seriously if they are raw talents with some good potential why not deepen the system?
  6. Keith Law's organization rankings:
  7. Jackson lands at #46 on MLB.com's top 50 prospects.
  8. Anyone else sensing Frasior to the Cubs anyday now? No basis just a feeling.
  9. Per mlbtr.... Did Hendry take the GM job in St. Louis?
  10. What is he worth in a 2-3 year deal? The current marketplace is crazy for dominating closers but what is fair for Carlos? Would you stick to a 2 year deal near 14-16 mil or go 3 at 20-22 mil? I love Marmol but in my opinion anything over 2 years scares me.
  11. If DJ can get to a point where he can steadily hit between 15-20 Homers he could be a very solid major league player, he seems to be a very good hitter for average.
  12. Quick, trade Silva to Seattle for Bradley!
  13. Oh man, I hope this is true!
  14. I don't see much to get excited about looking up Coleman's minor league history. What is it that projects him to be a major league starter? Bloodlines for one. His dad and grandfather were both major league pitchers. He's also got good control and knows how to pitch with what he has. His repertoire isn't anything special by any stretch and he doesn't even hit 90 all that often(probably rarely actually). His best pitch is his changeup, but he also throws a cutter and a sinker. He's also got very solid mechanics. He tends to get a little too fine with some of his pitches, which can lead to trouble, but he knows the little things that most guys his age don't. He's not all that talented, but he is a decent athlete and while I definitely don't see him as a starter for the Cubs, he could be the swingman possibly. But, I think he's probably a guy that eventually gets included in a trade to a small market team, where he'll be OK as a back end starter. I dont think this matters much but he can also handle the bat exceptionally well for a pitcher.
  15. Yeah, I think Johnson is just insurance against Perez sucking or any of the outfielders getting hurt. I think RJ should be the radio guy! He is a good guy and always was fun to listen to in interviews. But anyways, I agree that RJ is insurance.
  16. Well damn, now im curious as to what it was! Oh well, people should know better than to post bad stuff on a respected fan forum.
  17. http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/15965/one-step-forward-one-step-back-for-cubs Justin Havens perception..... Who?? Maybe because I am not a huge Gorz but please do not compare Garza to Gorzelany..
  18. This is a good way to prove you didn't watch a single game last year haha. Whoops. While I didn't miss the entire season, apparently I never watched a single game Cashner pitched in. I was so over Lou/Hendry last year that I honestly didn't watch much. Hence the question about the realistic options for the rotation. You missed a lot of very good Starlin Castro, and some decent Cashner, Coleman, Colvin....
  19. Hendry has always done a pretty damn good job in trades... Other than Wuertz, Garza has been the only big one in question and some people do not believe Hendry made a bad move... I am quite intrigued by Burgess, even if the 2 pitchers are decent upside / raw prospects this deal should go down as a good one. Gorzelany's command (or lack of) is the reason he is being bounced around, he is as likely to put up a mid 5 ERA as he is to repeat last season. That's just really incorrect. And besides, with this organization's obsession with handedness, this trade is likely to force someone with a lot worse qualifications than Gorzo to start next year. That said, I still like the trade in a vaccuum I do not see how it is flat out incorrect, I could expand in saying I think Gorz is a decent pitcher but a starter with a 1.50 whip in his career, simply is not a safe bet is all I am saying. I agree that that puts a worse LH pitcher in the fold to start. My question is if he is a pitcher who is going to walk a lot of hitters will he continue to out perform his k/9 like he did last season? That is simply not a given... But it is just my opinion.

  21. This was expected... I am really getting excited about the possibility of seeing a lot of Cashner in the starting rotation.
  22. He woul have a 400 OBP but also 250 SLG. Juan Pierre has more power than fuld. hahahah, while this is true I still cannot pass this sentence up without laughing.... Juan Pierre has more power than someone....
  23. Looking at that picture Fielder might have lost weight to the equivelant of a Mike Fontenot, if that is the case and he still has his power I am all for skinny Fielder manning 1B next year.
  24. Is Agon 100% going to resign with Boston? I have heard neither side was close and it is possible that Agon hits the market.
