Even with all the other great players today I am still most interested to see how tiger does in every event that he plays. I'm just waiting until he gets it together again, to whatever degree that ends up being. The obsession with him is deserved. He's not just a guy who was the best of his era and arguably all-time, like say a Pete Sampras type. He's a transformative figure that basically broke both the color and to a degree the socioeconomic barrier of his sport. He's possibly the most important athlete ever. And he's 39 right now. Lots of people want to watch him fail and I think more want to watch him succeed at this point. But as big a star Rory is and Spieth is becoming they will never generate the type of interest tiger does. That's why they air every shot he hits.

Novaks ability to return is impressive. The fourth and fifth set he had federers serve smothered. I think it's gonna be wide open at the U.S. Open.

I came on here to start this thread and am happy that it exists. I wanted to start a thread to say this is the worst broadcast of a major sporting event that I've ever seen. They have only shown two groups on the course the entire evening. Only Jason Day and Jordan Speith are going to make the weekend. This is so bad I can hardly believe it. There are like 10 guys under par currently on the course that could be shown. I understand tiger. But we don't need to se at +9 fowler hit every shot. This is terrible.

What a final. Stan powered grpundstrokes through Novaks defense. Novak showed a lot of heart too. Great match. Pretty hard to beat a player he swings it like Stan did.

So Novak breezes through the 5th set. Sets up an ultimate showdown of fun attacking tennis and defense/waiting for UEs. Hopefully Stan plays great and wins. Would really cement his career. He will need to serve out of his mind. Also needs to physically stay in there.

I was watching without sound. Did Novak take a dump or something after the third set or a medical? Seemed like Murray and fans were upset. What was the official reason for the TO. If it was for treatment what was hurt?

I think most of all Nadal's ability to consistently defeat his top contemporaries head to head (I believe davydenko is the only player with a head to bead advantage over him) especially in 5 setters and especially in finals will be an enduring legacy for him. Over time people will forget he was going heavy topspin forehand into Fed's one hander. And nadal at his best is superior to Novak at his best. Hopefully one of these younger guys will become a legitamate force (kokkinakas or kyrios or somebody) and rival Djoker for the next 4 years. Because there is literally nobody between 20-25 years old thats any good. Djoker might just be able to feast on weak fields and rack up slams.

You guys aren't being fair to Nadal. Please extend his run through 2013 when he was year end no. 1 won two slams and 5 masters level events. You can't take away a guys best surface and then say "he's only won 1 slam since X year if you take away the other 4 slams he has won'. If you take away the AO than Novak has only won 1 slam since the 2011 us open.

Nadal has been a such a great champion there I hope he can win one more at RG before he hangs it up. I do agree with his decline potentially being rapid and with both Murray and djokavich in this form above the rest of tennis and other guys like nnishikori and roanic to go along with guys his age like Stan and berdych, I think nadal could struggle to factor deep into slams on a consistent basis. Then again he could come back strong. He is an all time great and he's 28. Rooting hard for the winner of the bottom semi. Murray and Djokavich are loathsome and their match will be brutally boring orgy of 30 shot defensive points until Murray breaks down.

JR Smith should get 2+ games. Not sure how his clear punch is much different than meta world peace elbow. Not having love and jr smith available to space the floor makes a huge difference and I think hopefully sets us up to split the games in Cleveland.

Wow I'm surprised people like Bernstein more surprised people think he's smarter than other sports radio hosts. He is horrible and kinda a baby. Then he blows his guests. He usually tries to blow his guests so comprehensively that I can't bear listening to it. Surprised anybody likes him in 2015. His social justice stuff is all a new creation which makes the sanctimony tough to listen to as well. He works out at my gym as well. And he is impossibly small. Like he's smaller than any adult has a right to be.

Watching nadal on clay now. Really hoping he is healthy and fit. I actually like Cuevas but I'm hoping rafa slaughters him. I absolutely do want want the 2015 season to be without a top level nadal. Kinda conflicted because Cuevas is +600 against an inconsistent nadal after winning 3 titles on the surface in 6 months.

He probably quit because he went from being an athlete for a living to going into a studio and dealing with the irritating score personalities and he hated it.

Obviously part of the reason Marshawn Lynch makes nearly 10mln a year playing football is the interest thew games draw and part of that is the interest the players themselves draw. So the NFL (and I would guess every league) has rules that players have to be available to be interviewed. All this rolls into how much revenue the league can generate and then into how much the players make. Lynch makes himself more interesting by refusing to be available and thus m,ore in demand. I cant recall seeing Demarco Murray interviewed much this year despite being the years best runner. I dont get how Lynch cant understand that part of making $7mln a year as an NFL player is a requirement to answer a few questions a week from the media.

I've noticed that generally when there is any shot clock to game clock difference the team will just play defense. Which I don't understand. I'd fouls with 30 or less seconds. Not sure what Lin was doing there with no differential.

Ive noticed the people who hate rose, when they have a harder time justifying it, have become Jimmy Butler over-supporters (as perhaps they used to with Joakim). But I will not let this make me love Jimmy less. I think a full rose finals winning MVP redemption would be the greatest sportin outcome I could imagine. (My hatred of theo and his plan unfortunately will not allow me to enjoy a cubs WS)

At this point you can make the best case that Bama clearly didn't belong in the top 4. Turn out the SEC west teams all suck.

The ACC had a strong bowl season even with the FSU beat down. FSU beat Georgia tech and Clemson and those wins look really good right now. Louisville, ND, and Georgia tech each beat a top sec team. FSU will have beaten 3 of the top 15. Ultimately their schedule was far more difficult than TCU and they went through it undefeated. People talk about FSUs scares but not TCU. Who (i) lost a game (ii) beat a bad OK by 4 (iii) bad WVU had ball at midfield winning with 2 mins left (iv) was somehow getting beat by kansas for 3 quarters. TCU is a good team but had it's problems during the season. You can't justify them over FSU. Try would have probably been beaten soundly by Oregon also.
