I think all the talk about the triangle is overblown. It's like the only offense anybody has heard of so they make a big deal out of it wherever Phil Jackson goes. Every team runs some kind of offense. Any good roster of players can run the triangle offense. The Jordan bulls and the Shaq lakers didn't run the same set of plays all the time. It's just this big part of the Phil aura that isn't really as relevant as people are claiming. This offense was invented in the infancy of basketball as a sport. Melo is a great player and is great in any system. The knicks roster is bad. They can't do anything well. Phil is an egomaniac who probably thought associating himself with a team improves it. He's not a personel guy and he never was. He was actually bad at it when he had good teams. The guys he lobbied for like Tyrone lue all sucked. There was nothing to suggest he could succeed in New York and it's no surprise he made a couple of marginal upgrade signings, resigned Carmelo and called it a day. He's not even near the team. He hired a guy who has never coached. I fully expected this to me a mess though I am surprise at how bad it is.
